Get a used Camry or Corolla and hit the road. Those engines are going to be ok with over 300,000 miles.

best options out there other than driving your own car?

Your post should be looking for someone to carpool with.
Best alternative option is MegaBus.

Seem to recall a decent flight from MSY to Houston via Southwest. Not a great deal, but probably cheaper than BTR to IAH.
But, like others have posted, Megabus or drive your own car. I probably average a trip to Houston every other month, and it’s really not that bad. Hell, when Ms. FCP is out of town, I’ll drive over, watch the ‘Stros in a PM game, then drive back home to LP afterwards.
Depending on the trip, I’ll sometimes rent the cheapest vehicle Enterprise has and make the trip that way.

If you’re driving from BR to work in Houston, then just move to houston.
The drive itself is a bitch during the week due to constant jams in BR, Lake Charles, sometimes Beaumont, and lately the construction around San Jacinto. If you can, make the drive on Sunday and it’s smooth. Friday traffic always seems the worst.

Twice a month is hardly enough to move. Unless you just want to move because Houston is better, which I support.

Any reason to get out of BR is a good reason.

Two round trip non stop flights from BR to IAH ($233x2=$466) + 8 Uber Rides=$500/month. With in flight WiFi and/or Data you can work nearly your entire Uber/Flights and you’re there in about 75% less time.
It would honestly be worth it to me. Even if I had to pay. If my company balked, I’d just run the numbers on my salary broken down to rate of pay per hour, calculate the time spent commuting and not working since I’m certain they’re paying you during your commute, and then look at potential savings in fuel and/or mileage expenses they’re paying you for now.
I’m pretty sure it’s either a wash or close to it. Hell even if it’s not offer to pay the difference.
You’ll be more productive, less stress and have some potential write offs.

Take the Megabus. Like 20 dollars

Exactly what I was thinking, better be more than $12k per year after taxes in salary bump to pay for flights.

Actually, our offices are in Houston but I have to stay in BR for my sick mom, thanks for asking.

Be a man and drive your damn car.

Made that drive every week. Leave on Sunday night, and return on Friday. 231mi. I didn't mind though bc I was getting paid .65 a mile to do it. Would leave Sunday around 630pm and arrive at company apt about 930pm.

Honestly this is the dumbest thread I’ve ever seen.
