Almost every time I listen to sports talk radio folks chat about the game, someone always chimes in about some brilliant scheme Venables will have cooked up to confuse Burrow.

Meanwhile, Aranda flies under the radar. I think Aranda’s star lost some shine early this season, culminating in the game where the Ole Miss qb had his track meet playing LSU.

The LSU defense has improved greatly the last few weeks. Yet there is little talk about what Aranda has cooked up for Trevor Lawrence.

Aranda is a good coach, even with our defensive injuries it was hard to figure out what was wrong with the defense. Aranda didn’t suddenly get dumb. Whatever, he seems to have fixed it. A healthy Chaisson making impact plays sure seems part of it.

This is where Aranda needs to earn his salary. He’s got to be tired of hearing about Venables. There has been so much talk about our offense. I want to see our defense get after them boys like the old days.

Venables is Belichick and Isiah Simmons is Lawrence Taylor when he's rushing and Ronnie Lott when he's covering. We don't stand a chance

He probably doesn't hear about Venables very much. He's not reading and watching the same crap we are.

Good chess match. It's pick your poison for Venables. It will take a couple of series to get it figured out so don't freak out.
With those 3 wide outs, Moss, and CEH....like our chances

Venables has been better than Aranda the last couple years.

That said, he doesn't have the talent on defense Aranda has at his disposal. (Except Isaiah Simmons is a friggin beast)

Since LSU's defense has gotten healthy, (post Ole Miss), our guys are kicking arse and taking names. I think the best thing that could have happened was tOSU getting that #1 ranking in the first CFP poll lighting a fire under our defenses arse, along with Jacoby Stevens pouring gas on that fire following the OM game.

Our defense matches up better against their offense than their defense (or anyone's) matches up against our offense. Period.

It’s time for Aranda to earn his pay. I don’t mean that in a bad way or anything. But he is very highly paid and about to be in the biggest game of his career. It’s a great opportunity for him. He’s has plenty of time to study their offense. Just got to get er done now.

No he wasn't. He was sharing DC duties with Bob Stoops brother, Mike. Mike sucked. Once Venables left it became obvious Venables was the one being compromised by Mike.

LSU’s defensive stats the last 3 games are insane. And OU was the #2 rated offense behind LSU. Georgia was also not a push over. Hope they keep it going.

Clemson's defense is good, but not great. They lost a LOT last year, especially on the D line.

Having said that Venables is no slouch. He makes 1.7 million a year a year iinm, and you can look at the turnaround in the Clemson program when he was hired, as evidence he is worth that much. (After the blowout loss to WVU in the 2012 Orange bowl)

In the end, LSU has too much firepower.

LSU 47 Clemson 28

??

Clemson didn't sign a single top 10 class until 2015 but he had two top 10 defenses by that point.

That was similar to the Saban play where he snapped the ball quick for a TD against you guys. Just caught them off guard. They will have fixed some of that I assume
