Sure thing Nancy.

Wouldnt our embassy be considered our "soil"?
No. Our embassy is on Iranian soil. The same embassy that has pushed for exclusively punishing the Iranian people through sanctions, instead of the government. The same embassy that has encouraged aggression against the Iranian people. We do not have a right to an embassy with Iran. After our recent actions, I wouldn’t fault them for closing down that embassy and expelling all diplomats.

It’s true, technically they are still on Iranian soil.It has lots of special protections but it is still the soil of the host country both physically and legally.

1979 says what?
1979? When Iranian protestors took our embassy in response to the American support of the brutal dictator, the Shah? I wonder why they did that??

THE QUESTION:
Is that true? Are U.S. embassies and consulates considered to be on “U.S. soil?”
THE ANSWER:
No, while embassies and consulates are protected by international law and have a variety of immunities and special governing rules, the land they are built on doesn’t belong to the country that operates them.

You're completely and utterly wrong.
There was an immediate group of rabid psychos claiming Bush orchestrated it. This group and several others had no qualms saying we "deserved it".
On a national level, millions of people were absolutely paralyzed with fear for months, never knowing what godawful horror would be on the news. There were daily updates of dead soldiers on the news for the next 7 years.
On a more personal level, several young men that I knew very well were gripped in a bloodthirsty fervor for payback and enlisted and shipped out. While they were lucky enough to come back, none of them were the same - they have been inexorably damaged by this godforsaken war.
This is as melodramatic, if not more, than the op.
Like a damn Ken Burns intro.
Signed,
Been there, done that. Thrice.

Yes, I’m sure whatever embassy was attacked could not have possibly been attacked due to our irrational and dangerous foreign policy of forcing western values. Maybe it’s apathy, maybe I just don’t care anymore. It’s gotten hard to keep up with what embassies are doing what, because we are consistently making the region less safe. You’re right that we don’t have an embassy in Iran anymore; and that is probably for the best. We have been responsible for the oppression of the Iranian people for several decades.

You don’t even know which embassy was attacked? How could you know what else is going on?

My conversation was simply replying to this post, I thought that was what you were referring to
