Why do people do this? (LSU/Bama/ULL related)

I'm sitting at the bar of a restaurant for lunch, minding my own business. There were talking about Tua on ESPN. This guy just starts blurting out, at nobody in particular:
"You see that, 29 first round picks. That's some high class football right there (talking about Bama)."
"I can't wait till Clemson kicks LSU's arse."
"LSU only plays for championships once every 10 years."
Just wait.... It gets better.
"I told y'all ULL is the only football team in this state that will win championships. They are playing for one every year. They play for one tonight."
He wasn't talking to me, or anybody in particular I don't think. Guess he just felt a need to get that off his chest.

Your first sign that an intellectually defunct individual was talking is when someone blurts out like that talking to no one in particular. If you made eye contact in a way that welcomes dialogue or if the bartender was chatting it up that’s one thing. But otherwise, that’s just weird when people do that.
