I hope Clyde doesn’t play

We will handle their defense without struggle.
Our three other backs are more than capable of what we need to get the win.
We need Clyde **100%** for the National Championship game. I keep thinking about Kevin Durant rushing back from injury in the NBA playoffs. He came back too soon, with clearance from the doctors, and his pulled muscle ended up tearing. He’s now out for the next year and missed the deciding game 7.
Maybe I’m alone in this, but even if cleared to play, Coach O’s unsure reply during the press conference leads me to hoping he sits.
It’s about winning it all.

quote:Nope. Of the potential match ups, I would rather have him next game, and hammies are easily reinjured if not totally healed.
Maybe I’m alone in this

I dont see the coaches putting him in a bind unnecessarily. I see he and another RB out there where he's in there to help JB if the O line cant do it by themselves. I fully expect game to dictate his usage.

Yep. It’s reassuring to know that Coach O knows this as well and won’t take any chances. I have no reason not to trust him.

Chill out Coach O has got it!!!

I hope we dont NEED Clyde to play.

Absolutely see your point.
It’s so tough getting to this position to possibly play for the Natty especially coming out of the SEC. You can bet that scenario has played out over & over in the coaching staff’s minds.
Gotta take it a game at a time. If he’s not 100, hopefully they hold him out.

With him not playing, I'm only worried about how those other rbs pass block. Got to block for Joe, that is one attribute for Clyde that goes unnoticed sometimes.

because we are beating OU handily without him

If the coaches, trainers, medical staff and Clyde think Clyde is healed and is fit enough to play without unreasonable risk of reinjuring his hamstring, he should play.
If he is not fully recovered from his hamstring injury, he shouldn’t play. I think 99% of the LSU fan base don’t think he should play if he isn’t fully recovered and is at risk for aggravating his hamstring.
The problem is so many here are speculating about the extent of his injury and current status of his recovery when they do not really know.

I’m betting that this is the coaching staff’s plan unless our backs are against the wall in the 2nd half

Davis-Price and Curry both seem like the type to be more than willing to pass block. I just hope they have the knowledge of the offense, but remember most times even when Clyde is in backfield he is out in a route not sitting in the backfield.

LSU has capable backup RBs.
It’s CEH’s heart & grit that is so tough to replace.

I hope Clyde doesn’t play IF HES STILL INJURED (which he obviously is).
Without him there are one or two drives we don’t sustain and there’s one or two drives we settle for a FG, so we score fewer points without him.
I still think we can score in the 30s but I’m not sure we can cover the spread which means big plays or turnovers could play a big role in this game.

he hasn't practiced in 2 weeks, not good
without Clyde do we beat Alabama?
Probably not...think about the amazing plays he had...to keep drives alive

reading the thread title I was coming in here to curse you and tell you to go to hell.
One caveat though, if he's good enough and the risk for re-injury or aggravation is low, as determined by medical staff- not CEH or coaches, then by all means let the man play. If not, spectacular curtain call in NOLA in Jan!!

I think I recall TDP's pass blocking improving tremendously as the season went on to the point where he is nearly as good as Clyde at this point. The concern is Curry and particularly Emery, though lack of snaps may be more of an issue than the actual pass blocking.

I wonder if all you guys saying rest him will be singing this tune if the offense comes out of sync and has a couple 3 and outs or TDP misses a block and Burrow gets smashed. You guys are acting like we’re just going to skip our way past OU like they’re Vanderbilt. CEH is a major reason this offense is what it is and the strength of this team which is why E and Burrow are hoping he will be able to go.
