86k is nothing in San Francisco. I'd take 70k in Austin before SF.

I can get you a job for $12/hr at my work place.

120 in just a few years. But that's today's dollar. compound 3% over 10 years, and your now at 160k.
Nice Rent control 2bd apartment for 4k now, is 4k in 10 years. Your "cost" stays the same, but your income increases.
Promotion to higher levels (senior, principal)
LINK
If he's 40 and does 20 years, he'd get 50% of his final salary as pension.

Perhaps you're not familiar with how military service transfers to the civilian world.
Very familiar

Why stop there, let’s compare net worth while we’re at it, insecure snowflake

Also, it’s called Masters of Science in Government Contracts...not Contracts & Acquisitions. Probably should learn the name of the program before you graduate.

I agree with you here on the networking piece. OP likely doesn't realize how critical networking is to any field.
Military experience (especially something like munitions) is often brushed past because while it is nice "life experience" it doesn't usually relate to the position at hand.
He's likely looking at entry level positions which are kind of a gut check for people thinking they're going to walk into the middle tier. Also recruiters at companies do the math on their experience and don't always want a 30 year old mixed in with their 23 year old work force.
Cold harsh realities of the switch.

He needs to switch his field in the military to whatever it’s codified as...acquisitions? There was a guy I went through the program with that was Army. Somehow was at Barksdale at some point? Don’t know how that worked.
I was and had been in government but hated it. I used the program to move over into the private sector where nobody understands government contracts, etc. There is little expertise in the south so it just made me much more valuable to them. Also smaller job market though.
Networking is key though. I could leave tomorrow and have a great job in DC if people knew I was headed back. But it’s hard to beat the money and cost of living in the south.

You definitely have some unresolved issues. You sound really mad that you can't pass a psych eval to hold a respectable job in the civilian world. This is classic internet dick measuring. I'm sure OP is not the jody who fricked your wife while you were gone. Something tells me you don't speak to people in real life like you do on the internet.

Try to Upgrade your clearance as much as possible. It pays so much more.

Otherwise, a job that could be suitable for you is something like a buyer or purchasing agent at an entry level. Salary would probably be around 50-60k/year

You may have to move. But i could see you landing something in export controls/compliance in the 60k range starting off.
