Frankly, I find that amazing as I never hear anyone talk about watching one of his fights. Never.

Tyson back in the day was way bigger.

Tyson was an offensive machine but still got outrun by Floyd at the gate, possibly because people paid for his fights in hopes to see him KOed or at least beaten. 50 times he stepped up and gave a defensive masterclass and laid out 27 along the way while not a single boxer was able to beat him. Some think he is boring to watch, I always found it fascinating to watch him. He is a boxing genius in my eyes, he perfected not getting hit which prolonged his career and at the same time was able to produce massive PPV buys. People also seem to forget or never knew he was the most accurate puncher ever during the Compubox years.

Most people in this world get paid exactly what they’re worth.

Except for people on minimum wage. They’re by definition overpaid.

He's probably more famous but that doesn't mean he generated more money for the sport

I guess my point, which is obvious to me and stated in my post, blew right by a couple of you.

I never hear anyone, let me repeat, ANYONE talk about watching a Mayweather fight. No one I'm familiar with cares and certainly will not pay to watch.

Hell, these days boxing is a niche sport.

That is why I find it amazing he has made that much. I'm not saying he didn't make that much and I understand how he makes his money.

Apparently boxing, and Mayweather, is more popular outside the country. I'm sure a lot of the money for the Pacqiao (sp?) was from outside the US.

Hit them and don't get hit yourself. Seems like he's figured something out.

I don't, but I also think we probably need a tax increase at that income level.
Why does the government need more money to piss down the drain?

Funny enough there is a Mayweather fight thread on the first page of More Sports right now.

I will say this if anyone was a real boxing fan in 2007 they almost certainly watched the De La Hoya Mayweather fight.

You beat me too it.

That being said, I think many athletes and some in other professions are paid much more than I think they are worth.
