Sheriff's office: Teen dead, minor injured after early-morning Christmas Eve shooting in Baton Rouge
A teenager has been killed and a minor was injured in a shooting off Millerville Road in Baton Rouge, deputies say. According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened just before 5 a.m. on Turret Drive in the Avondale subdivision Christmas Eve morning. The report says a 17-year-old victim was killed in the shooting. A minor was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

I had several friends in the Avondale subdivision growing up and spent a lot of time there(in the 90s). I drove through about a year ago and was amazed at how bad it had turned.

Not BR this time. That's "east side"/ St George. This time.....

Thugs don’t take vacations day I guess.

Avondale got hit hard during the flood. I think many people moved out after, leaving what you see now. That entire area is kinda scary, so close to Old Hammond and those crappy townhomes/apartments.

Is St George included in that area? If so then I guess that’s its first murder

Corrections: neighborhood is Avalon and it is not part of St. George - north of I-12 and cut out of second drawing of SG map.

Nah it’s north of the interstate past Target and Petsmart which is outside of the glorious Empire of St. George

Exactly. How would they have been able to climb the wall?

On the 12th day of Christmas Baton Rouge gave to me:
12 DUI’s
11 gunshot wounds
10 million dollars missing
9 homeless muggings
8 cops radaring
7 fights at Sonic
6 restaurants closing
5 OD’s
4 flipped trucks
3 random stabbings
2 drive by’s
And a school bus runover by a train

Not St. George nor inside the city limits. Unincorporated East Baton Rouge Parish.

Probably drug related transaction between young adults that went wrong.
