Have you ever been to an ‘adult theater’?

I doubt they exist anymore with the internets, but watching older movies or shows, it seems like XXX theaters were the only place to go watch adult films.
I couldn’t imagine sitting in there with some dude tugging away next to me, but apparently they were pretty popular in the bigger cities?
Any boomers here want to share any experiences?

Never been to an adult theater, Peewee, but I have gone to a peepshow back when Times Square had real whores instead of Disney princesses.

East of Dallas at the I-20/US80 split in Terrell, there used to be this awesome adult video store with theaters in the back. Individual ones where you put in quarters to watch various prons you could pick from.
Was a guaranteed BJ if you went back there.

A good friend of mine had a HS girlfriend whose dad got caught at Forrest Park giving strangers BJs. He was married, a successful business owner with 2 kids.
