I am just here to tell anyone that has never hunted deer with this caliber, I can tell you it is one hell of a rifle. Went to Texas and shot 3 deer at 100+ yards and they dropped where they had stood.

Very undervalued caliber, lots of people say it is good for kids, but it is great for anybody

It has to be the closest to perfect you can get for a deer rifle.

Bought one for my son a few years back. I use it myself now most of the time. Great round

I use my daughter’s probably more than my 270. It’s great for tight box stands and ladders. (Weatherby Youth Model)

I’ll just keep shooting my .577 T-Rex. I know when I pull the trigger deer get driven into the ground. I don’t like to blood trail them all night like y’all.

Made 2 shots at 200+ earlier this month with mine. Coyote and deer. Just wish academy etc. Stocked any legit ammo for this caliber

I watched a rancher in Wyoming kill a 275lb 4x4 mule deer with one. Deer dropped in tracks. I think it will do fine on whitetails.

Have two of them. Bought one for wife and ended up using it all the time so I swapped my bro in-law one of my 270s for my sisters 7mm-08. Sucker

I bought 4junior a Ruger American youth model 7-08 a few years ago. He’s almost seven now and hope to get him on one during the holidays.

I took it on a hunt earlier this year and smoked a doe at 75 yards, dead on impact. The exit wound was impressive out of the 135 grain SST.

I’m a big fan of the short action and can see myself getting one in the future.

I grabbed a stainless with synthetic stock Savage 7mm mag a few years ago with a Leupold VX-L 3.5-10x50mm NIB that came with it for a little over grand. My favorite rifle.

Killed a doe this weekend with my sons 7mm-08. I really like using his gun. Left my .270 behind for that hunt.

I have 2 X-bolts in 7-08. Its all I need and never let me down. I have mine paired with a vortex 4x16x50.
My wife liked mine so I got her the same gun but a "youth" model. Barrel is just a few inches shorter.

It's one of the perfect whitetail calibers. With good bullets, itll serve fine on an elk trip as well

Carried one in a Remington Model 7 for many years. Took whitetail, hogs and bear with it.

Would argue it was near perfection for North American big game until the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 6.5-300 Weatherby showed up. Love the short action; but, for shooting long range it just doesn’t cut it past 500 yards.

For most applications it’s perfect. If hunting out West the 6.5-300 or the 30-378 remains king of the hill.

I was BSing before, but that seems a little weak for elk. I have never heard of anyone shooting that caliber for elk at least.
