This is NOT a suggestion related to CEH’s
Injury. It’s more of a general musing that has been rattling around my brain.

Catching passes is becoming more and more important for RBs

We’re also seeing bigger strong WRs.

Lee is 6’ 1” 223 For instance.

Yet I cant Think of too many making the move from WR to Rb to be one of these receiving RBs .

RBs have certain traits that most WRs just don’t have. One being toughness and being hard-nosed. Some may fit that and maybe D. Lee would but most just don’t have the traits a RB needs to perform.

I think Emery could provide some of what Clyde has and even be better in some aspects but does the staff trust him to know his assignments is the issue. It’s time for Emery and company to step their game up for their team imo. Let’s get after it and set up what’s coming next year in this big game.

I always thought D Dillon should have been a chance at RB.

Devonta Lee

He is 6’1” 223 played RB/WR/Safety in high school and is a WR currently.

The LSU wideout that I always thought would have been better suited to tailback was John Diarse. He was solid at WR, but didn’t have near the impact I thought he was going to have coming out of Neville.

He was a running QB at Neville, was pretty shifty, and very tough. Granted, having Fournette on the roster would have limited his playing time at RB as well.

I think maybe Jontre Kirklin could be someone on the current roster that might be able to make a go of it at RB if he decided to give it a try.

That waddle kid at Alabama would give me nightmares in the backfield.

People change position.

Reed moves from RB to WR

We experimented with Addai at WR

Ty Montgomery in the NFL.

You act like people don’t try different positions.

The point is that WR skill would translate to a modern RB.

Any WR that moves to RB should have probably been a RB to begin with.

I think the question should have been, “Why don’t more RBs move to WR?

Look at Josh Reed and Devery Henderson. To of LSU’s best WRs. They came to LSU as RBs.

Without any hard evidence, I would guess that in the NFL the shelf life of WRs is much longer than RBs.

Not every RB has good hands. But I agree with your initial question. I would love to see another Josh Reed like transition from RB to WR.

There is a reason why you can only list 5-10 successful position changes when there are thousands of NCAA/NFL players to choose from... I’ll let you decipher that reason

Yeah but being a RB used to require you to look like LF7

McCaffrey has 117 targets thisnuear and 94 receptions.

It’s a different game.
