I've been to most home games during the Wade era (Probably half of them this year). Half of the fun of games was watching Wade's antics on the side. He still has outbursts from time to time but he used to be relentless. There were times last night after poor effort in rebounding or a forced shot that I just knew he was going to explode and it never happened. I don't know, he just seems less fiery this year.

The problem is we’re having similar issues to early of last season. Turnovers, trying to change the way our point guard plays naturally and not using the bench enough. I trust he’ll get it right come conf play like always but it is troubling to see him repeat past mistakes so identically.

Maybe just like last year we should give the team time to figure things out? This time a year ago the rant wanted to fire wade after we lost to some average teams and benched tremont. How’d that work out again?

but Wade left them with no choice

You realize Alleva and Alexander are both gone because the way they handled Wade was the final straw of their many missteps? They tried to make it easier for the NCAA’s toothless enforcement staff instead of sitting back and making the NCAA do its job.

It’s no coincidence Wade was suspended in March and Alleva was out of a job six weeks later. And Alexander was essentially neutered at that point, too.

Our team is just Ok until some leadership emerges. We are way under sized for the SEC. we got killed on the boards last night. On the offensive end we never did much to create a high percentage shot.

Lots to learn about this team. Maybe Marlon Taylor can help.

I don't think Wade's bench demeanor has changed as much as his approach on defense is still AWFUL. I have no idea what the approach is other than to haphazardly try for deflections, rarely stay in front of guys, and bite on every minor head fake imaginable. Then when they press it is some kind of half-assed approach where they don't aggressively close traps and essentially just let the opponent systematically move the ball down court for a layup.

ETSU was a very efficient offensive team coming into the game and they flat out got any shot they wanted vs. LSU's terrible defensive approach. It reminded me a lot of the Michigan St. game last season where that offense just cut up LSU's SWAC-like defense.

Yes, we understand there is not a pure rim protector this year. But LSU still has good length and athleticism and should be FAR better defensively than they are...which is currently 97th in the country in defensive efficiency and 11th in the SEC. And this isn't just a one game or one year "fluke". LSU under Wade has consistently been avg. to below avg. defensively.

ETSU is good team and well coached. Losing to them is not a sin. But looking like Prairie View A&M on defense is.

And guys who pride themselves in playing defense and playing fundamental ball. They didn't body up anybody last night, it was pathetic. The offense is still stagnant.
In the second half, ETSU got second chance buckets 3 or 4 times in a row and once in the first half got 5-6 chances at it before scoring. That is purely a lack of effort and fundamentals.

Totally agree. The entire fiasco last spring obviously has had a huge negative impact on Wade and this team.

Why not wait and see what happens. If the team underachieves it’s on Wade’s shoulders. He recruited this team. He coaches the team. What happened in the spring has little to do with what happens with this team.

Hopefully a loss like this will light a fire under their arse. They better come out looking like a completely different team come sec play or it’s going to be a long season.... our schedule is not very favorable

He’s like, I should have recruited a point guard, a rebounder, and a 3point shooter, etc...

Definitely...Wade said this team didn't need a big guy and that one one of the new guys, Manning maybe would be a scoring beast. I know it's early, but Smart, Mays and gang look like complete dog shite.

You could tell during warmups that we were gonna be outrebounded? Weird, considering we have played teams with more height and outrebounded them

I agree they are missing big guys but last night wasn't about that, they absolutely sucked arse in effort and fundamentals on the defensive side of the ball. Go watch the game again, they didn't body up anybody throughout the game. ETSU didn't have a huge size advantage.

Well, seeing how we let them get 19 offensive rebounds (40 total rebounds) compared to our 7 offensive (29 total); I would say that was the biggest difference between the 2 teams last night.
You could probably hear me screaming from the broadcast every time they got an offensive rebound. It was so pathetic last night.

Weird? Not here trying to brag and say I called my shot. I wish I would have been wrong. Their bigs were tall and athletic. We can certainly hang with the big guys that can't move.

Noticed it from Game 1 we were going to have rebounding issues, especially with Emmitt and Days as our "big men". Really miss KBW and Naz to a certain point even though he played soft.

Imagine how bad Gafford would of tore this team up (not like he didn't give us havoc last year).
