Maybe. The pace of donations has certainly slowed.
As it gets closer to Christmas, people will have other things on their minds.
Whether it hits $500,000 or not, it is still an amazing outpouring of love and support from all over the country.
Out of curiosity, I looked from where the donations were coming. In addition to donors from Louisiana and Ohio, I saw donors from Texas (many cities); Minnesota; New Jersey; Shanghai, China; North Carolina; Mississippi; New York; California; Michigan; Pennsylvania; and Florida. I'm sure there are many other places too (but I wasn't going to scroll all day).
Joe Burrow has inspired a nation. We can't know how many people were inspired to give in their own ways, in their own communities. We can be thankful that he will be Forever LSU.

Thanks to everyone that have donated.
Thank you Joe Burrow.
Burrow is the embodiment of the many Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award winners.
Burrow is a great QB and an exceptional human being.

Clyde’s injury and the recruiting failures have been a buzkill. Without those we would be over 500k already.

How does Facebook differ from gofundme on verification that funds will get to organizations (or that people starting fundraisers are affiliated with them). I was expecting to see organization pages do this not individuals like with gofundme. One person i know with cancer had another person do a Facebook one for her, but my friend ended up having some issues getting the donated money (not issue with organizer but something with Facebook) and family member set up another with gofundme. When a family member did & shared on FB a St Judes run/walk I could bypass donate button & go directly to their st. Jude site to donate and amount still came up on Facebook donation page because they linked it, and I didn't have to give FB any payment info.
Do you have to store payment info with Facebook to donate if you have to go through Facebook?

If I remember reading it correctly I think their annual budget is around $15000? If they hit $500000, stick it in a 3% account,......... Tremendous!

What is this money being used for?? It not for some kid to go to college and pay for a house ?? Is it actually for food and water for people ??

Please read the posts of TexasTiger05, beginning on page 13, including this one:
Just wanted to give come context behind this donation.
The Athens County Food Pantry isn't a food bank. It's what food bank's call a partner agency. Food Bank's around the country divide up service areas and their partners order food from the food bank. They all do it differently, but ultimately the food that their partners receive from the food banks is at a heavily discounted rate because food banks can buy product within their network. I guess the best way to describe it is like Costco, but for qualified non profits.
Food banks still need donations from the community, however they are able to employ staff to seek those donations. They have Development departments and grant writer(s) to assist with that. On the other hand, food pantries do not. Some are large and can mimic what food pantries do in regards to fund raising, but on the whole food pantries (or, partner agencies) are ran by people who have full time jobs or retirees. Ultimately these people are not employed and do the best they can do with extremely limited budgets and free time.
Donating to the Athens County food pantry is HUGE. Food banks can receive huge donations (ie any post hurricane response) and have fund raising events. Again, not saying they dont require the community's support, but what I'm saying is that this large donation to the Athens Food Pantry is unprecedented. The donations will help lead them to sustainable change within their community. This isn't the kind of donation this pantry would see unless they received a grant that's been written by a professional grant write and that's most likely impossible for partner agencies to accomplish.
Keep it up, Tiger Nation and Ohio! This is amazing to witness

No information about that on the Fundraiser page in OP's link or on the Food Pantry's website. I believe there were 2 smaller FB fundraisers going on, I see that People's Bank is having an internal fundraiser today and will match internal donations, and I know there are some people donating directly and not through FB.
Hopefully there will be a final tally posted somewhere for all the La. and Athens efforts. This has been amazing.
