Hotel rates are significantly cheaper in the Buckhead area. Anyone stay here for SEC championship and use MARTA and/or go out in that area?

Hyatt points
8,000 per night at the Regency
Stayed there for the SECCG
Also, the Hyatt Centric in Midtown is pretty cheap at 187

Everyone goes to Buckhead to party, might as well stay there.

buckhead would be fine ..... an extra 10 minutes on the train compared to Midtown. Plenty of dining as well.

There's no reason to stay by the stadium, I would just stay somewhat close to a marta train stop honestly. The buckhead train stop is right by lenox. A few hotels right there.
There's like a Hilton right by there, Waldorf, Grand Hyatt, Courtyard, W, Westin, etc...
Just looked up the Courtyard and it's $119 a night for Friday+Saturday night stay

I stayed with a friend in Buckhead and Ubered to the stadium.
The St. Regis hotel has a nice, popular bar scene close to where we ate Friday at King and Duke.
King and Duke was was good, and If you like a good old fashioned they have a fantastic mixed (Rye and bourbon) one!!! Burger was very good, not the best I've ever had, but very good. Scallops were over seasoned. Lobster fritters were very good!
Saturday after the SEC Championship game, we struggled to find a place to go downtown that we liked so we ubered back to Buckhead and after a few places that were NOT good, we ended up at the Big Sky bar. It was a good party scene with a lot of TVs and a projector playing the Big 10 championship game, but it was a younger crowd. I'm 39 and felt a little out of place, but it was by far the best option to watch football that I could find in Buckhead. There may be better places, but I would definitely recommend Big Sky Bar.

Just an FYI, but Marta is only $2.50 each way, and on the train it goes quick from buckhead.
They sell day unlimited passes for $9, or 2 day for $14.
Could take it out to decatur which is my favorite part of town. Little more low key for drinking than Buckhead. (Brickstore is awesome for beer). Twains is a nice atmosphere and they also brew their own stuff there (super cheap too).
Buckhead is mostly younger folk, usually a lot of college and 20 somethings on weekends.
If you're flying in MARTa would make all that super easy.
Take train from airport to bucklhead station, stay in hotel right there. MARTA to dome, then could marta anywhere after, like decatur, etc...can marta from decatur back to hotel in buckhead. I would just stay on train if you could.

Probably your best bet. Large concentration of restaurants, bars, retail, etc. and very easy to get down to the stadium via MARTA.

The JW Marriott at Lenox is super nice, and within walking distance from Marta

As someone who lives just outside Atlanta, its pretty much all the same if you were planning on taking Marta anyway.
Just pick somewhere, majority of the decent hotels are in good areas and there is generally something worth doing/going to in most of nice areas of Atlanta.
The difference is largely just going to be how many minutes you ride the Marta.

We've stayed in Buckhead for all the LSU trips. Stayed at Hyatt Place for SEC Championship and will again for the Playoff. Always use Marta for game day transpiration. We normally go to Fogo or local steakhouse on Friday's and most within walking distance. Many hotels, restaurants and bars for night life. Normally fly from Houston and use Marta the entire weekend. Good luck!

Bone's steakhouse is awesome...Palm Restaurant in area...Chops..McKinnon's Louisiane is a place in buckhead as well that's been there for over 30 years but i have never been so can't provide any input.
Boat load of places in midtown to eat which is just a couple stops on marta heading towards stadium...Lure is a seafood place in midtown on crescent that is very good and South City Kitchen is awesome southern food right nextdoor that usually requires a reservation.

Stayed at the Embassy Suites in Buckhead for SECCG. Used the MARTA. That’s the way to go. Room was about 165 a night.

MARTA gets a bad rap, but I've never had any problems.
