I was in 7th grade. I remember waking up late and panicking only to look out the window and realize we were in a rare winter wonderland. One of the best days of my life, even though the power went out and I had a hard time falling asleep due to the cold.

I couldn’t get out of bed as I had just been dumped. Very sad memory for me. On the positive I had a genetics test in Richardson the next day I totally knocked out the park.
I’d love to do a top 10 snow days in New Orleans but I’ve only experienced three or four of them.
For more on my snow experiences see #8 in LINK

11 years ago today I walked uphill (Lake St) in the snow to take my last final in college.

However I do remember 2008, everyone else got off early for work and I had to stay the entire day.

It snowed at my house in 2017, southeast Louisiana.

December of '89...
Just before Christmas.. Snowed like 3" the city and traffic was a complete cluster... and was straight sub zero temps for 3 days... Lake Pontchartrain had ice
it...
Parent's pipes busted, and they had a layer of ice on their pool.
We went to the camp on the West Pearl, and broke ice at Davis Landing to the river...
It was crazy..
Also, New Years eve '63...
From Wiki...
quote:
Southeast Louisiana saw 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm), mainly east of the Mississippi river, with New Orleans, Louisiana measuring 4.5 inches
Tulane Stadium before the Sugar Bowl...

I’m pretty sure it was below freezing temps for a few days but it most certainly was not sub zero.

I remember that event. It was my last day of college ever. Last finals were set that day. I wanted to be a kid and play in the snow so bad but had to stay in the Union at LSU to study for my finals. At 9:00am I was finished with my first of the day and had one final one left at 3:00. I stayed strong. Sat in the union and studied for my Southern Politics final with Dr. Parent while I watched and heard all the students throwing snowballs and shite outside.
The snow melted by the time my last final arrived. Walked into class ready as frick.
Dr. Parent walked to the front of the class and said the following:
"Guys, this semester started off with Hurricane Gustav destroying the area and it's ending with the huge snow this morning and all the headaches everyone dealt with to get here. Y'all have dealt with enough -- just write on a sheet of paper one thing you learned in the class this semester and turn it in with your name on it. Have a good Christmas"
I've never been more thrilled and pissed at the same time in my life.

I lived in Lafayette at the time and was driving into BR for work. I had a very close call at the frozen overpass by the 415 Lobdell exit.

Yea, I commuted to LSU at the time and the drive to campus was brutal. Couldn't see jack shite it was coming down so heavily. Turned into South Stadium parking lot and almost slid right out of it

Remember it well. Kids were 10 and 8. Took them to a buddy's house on the Northshore and built a legit snowman. Good times.
