They are "drowning out his voice" and mad that he "treats the team like a college team".

It is an Athletic article from Shams, so I can't really link it, but some of the things they are mad about (Keep in mind they are one of the youngest teams in the NBA with a ton of rookies and first 3 year players):

1) He "focuses too much on fundamentals"
2) He "has different names for plays than other NBA coaches"...very simple names.
3) He "has too much of a college mindset"

Coaches in the NBA have no power these days. The players run and control everything. Their egos can't allow someone to tell them what to do.

Coaches are simply figure heads. I wouldnt even call them babysitters at this point.

fwiw not all of them feel this way
quote:

“At the same time I think the players are the reasons things are happening the way they are,” one player said. “Coaching can’t fix 20- and 30-point blowouts.”

Yeah

You are a good coach if you just happened to be wherever the superstar of the year decides to go

I cant believe there is any fanbase at all for the known 26 teams in the NBA that have zero chance at all of winning each year

Like no one should be going to a Cavs game at all or watching them at all. Thats how shite the parity is that they were in how many straight finals just two years ago

why do people not even try to understand the current environment of the league before saying stuff like this

How many teams have a realistic chance of winning a NBA title this year

funny to see the differences in how people will talk abojt what is going on here v coach saban when he went to the phins.

I have a hankering that People blamed the coach that time, but will blame the players here.

at least three teams in the west have a very good chance to get out of the conference. the nuggets are a 4th contender who may be on the next tier down but a legitimate contender nonetheless

i can think of at least 3 teams in the east who have a very good chance to come out of the east

so i can think of 7 teams in the NBA who, at the least, have a very real and legitimate chance to reach the finals

lakers
clippers
rockets
sixers
bucks
celtics
nuggets

so almost a quarter of the league which seems pretty normal for most other sports leagues. hell, baseball has more teams actively trying to lose than trying to win

Alabama and New England have had damn near strangleholds on CFB and the NFL over the same stretch people complain about parity in the NBA. Just saying.

The NBA is a players league

Doesnt even matter who the coach is in Cleveland right now. They will suck. Just like most of the other teams that have absolutely zero chance because the top tier talent pool is 10 people deep

So we're just going to ignore the fact that a 7 seed damn near knocked off a 2 seed just last year?

Zero chance, huh?
