Flew out of AA last week and both flights there and back I had to check in my carry on baggage. They also changed my seat number to the very back of the plane from the middle. When I finally got off to catch my connecting flight I almost missed it due to taking so long to get off. AA agent was like we almost left without you. Well if AA didn't didn't change my damn seat assignment I wouldn't have had to run to your gate. What really pissed me off was on the flight back to MSY they called my name and said due to a full flight I would have to check my bag. As soon as I got on there was so much room in the overhead compartments. I asked the stewardess why the hell I had to check my bag if you have all this room? Her response was they were supposed to count all the carry on bags as people check in. Well obviously they aren't counting. This must be a new AA thing. I will not be booking with AA anytime soon.

Only flew AA once and never again. AA is the worst flight experience I've ever had.

Flight delayed because one of their flight attendants was running late. Then board everyone and say the flight is delayed again because a storm passing through. Which was BS because the storm wasn't close yet and had plenty of time to take off. We end up just sitting there waiting for the storm to "pass." Storm ends up passing right into our flight path anyway so we end up flying through the shite. Worst turbulence I've ever experienced. The flight attendants even looked worried. frick AA.

I have a trip in December already booked with them, but after my most recent experience, I won’t be using them after that.

Three of us booked a flight for travel in March on AA. This week we got notification that our flights had changed. One of the guys saw that the pricing on the new flight was $70 less than what he paid. He called AA and was told in order to get the refund, he would have to pay a $200 change fee. ???!???

AA has been cheaper out of Atlanta in recent months but we refuse to fly them.

In laws in Dallas even hate AA and they've traditionally been the hold outs.

It's just a miserable company. Everything is hectic or filled with animosity, all the staff look like they absolutely loath getting out of bed each day. As Delta and United recovered and got their stuff together, it seems like AA went in reverse.

If there was a schedule change of more than 60 minutes you should be able to cancel your flight without penalty. Then book new flight. I did this yesterday with AA. Flight was moved back 1:30 a month or two ago. I’ve been watching prices and they went down $200 on another airline. Called AA and they cancelled,
No charge. Booked with other airline. Profit.

It's definitely been known by me. They mostly all suck these days, but AA is a vacuum of suck.

There's a lot wrong with AA and why I switched over to Delta. Lost luggage domestic and international, delayed flights due to mechanical delays or operations issues, the unhelpful employees (have any of you been to PHL or CLT recently?), and a general attitude of take what you get.

I've connected DCA-JFK-BUF on delta and made it back earlier than a colleague on the direct AA DCA-BUF. Had many colleagues have cancelled BUF-DCA, PHL and ORD flights while I've made it to a work meeting. No one at the office questions my flight choices anymore and they actually prefer to fly with me on delta

Thanks. The return trip was scheduled over an hour later (which isn’t devastating). I’ll see what they say.

I’ve done it twice with AA. Yesterday, and once I had them move me to a different airport that was just as close to my house but had a better return time. I do agree with everyone else though, they suck. I usually fly them because they are cheap and service the small airports I often fly to.

Did you get the basic economy? If so, that is standard practice for most carriers. AA isn't amazing but it's not the worst.

Live in Dallas. They’ve been awful for decades. I only fly SWA in and out of here despite AA having a huge hub at D/FW.

I'm in DFW too and do try to avoid AA. But flying internationally means you have to fly them or British Air who aren't much better....but they have a better accent. And we do get better compensation from BA when they delay our flight.

AA has been bad for a long time, their employees just don't give a damn.

More than a decade ago my wife was flying on her own and connecting through Dallas. She gets off the plane and an agent tells her where her next gate is. OK. She's walking to that gate and sees a monitor with a different gate number for her flight. She goes to an AA agent at an open counter and asks which gate is correct. The agent - an older woman - says "Well, you just pick which ever gate you want, honey."

She found another AA agent to file a complaint and was told - "you can file a complaint but she's the manager for this terminal and she's just going to tear it up. I'm sorry we're not a better airline."

Just amazing.

Ehh, I'd venture to say Spirit is worse.

Don't get me wrong though, AA absolutely blows in every facet.
