This one is more expensive, but reviews are the best and there is a $90 one on amazon with so so reviews.

On the multi screen display in Carplay, you can not put anything other than Apple Maps.
Just use the menu button to find Waze or Google Maps
If you would like to use Siri, say "navigate to X using Waze or Google Maps" it will work and pop up.

You can also setup shortcuts on Siri. I use “waze me to work” and it will open Waze and set my work as the destination.

Delete apple maps.

Don’t get one, it’s garbage. Filed a claim on my credit card because it was nonfunctional and they won’t respond for returns.

I set my Apple Maps to not be able to use any cellular data.
Once I connect the iPhone with the USB cable, Google Maps pops up unless I used Waze last.
Just play around with it and you’ll get it acting right and figure out what to press if another screen pops up.

He's not asking for what app it starts up with, he wants it to display on the new home screen, which I don't think is possible.

Apparently there is a new update method, I tried that on this one and now it works fine in my truck. I'm a little worried about privacy using this thing though.

Setting gmail as default client and Waze or google maps are a feature coming to future iOS updates. They don’t want to get hit with anti-competitive suits.
