No.

It’s a dramatically, hilariously superior movie than any other Bond, in every way imaginable. Acting, Directing, Writing, Cinematography. It’s not even close. It’s the only Bond that’s a real movie.

We did in Goldfinger. A whole gang of them.
Pussy Galore and her aerobatic troop .... best Bond Girl ever.
I think maybe Moonraker had one or two as well. Also, there was another one, gymnastic killers, maybe that was Moonraker too because I'm pretty sure it was a Roger Moore version. But it may have been the one with Jill St John ... I just can't remember. I remember the room, the house on the hill and the pool outside and the fight in the room and the gymnastics lesbians.

You forgot impossible situations (from which he escapes), vodka martinis and cool gadgets and cars.

I did and I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing. My argument is that Vesper was both attracted to Bond from the very beginning and also a very strong and independent woman in her own right.
Them: were going to have a strong, independent, brilliant female role, that cleverly shoots down bond. No more helpless girls
Me: we had that in Casino Royale
You: no we didn't

The best Bond film in recent memory was Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, but will see this Bond movie nonetheless

You have consistently awful takes
I don’t believe for one second that you’ve ever seen from Russia with love, on her majesty’s secret service, license to kill, etc

On her majestys secret service has to be one of the most underrated bond flicks. I upvote you for mentioning it!

I go back and forth on if OHMSS would have been better with Sean Connery. It is one of my absolute favorite Bonds.

I’m not going to write a novel as to why you’re wrong, why don’t you go listen to the rewatchables podcast on Skyfall and if there’s anything there you’d like to discuss with me in detail, let me know.

They really lay out their cards early by introducing the film as the Bond film "engineered to win Oscars." It's one of the main reasons I don't love Skyfall. It always feels like it's trying so hard. It beats me over the head with "prestige." I've seen every Bond, but I don't love any outside of From Russia with Love. Plenty are good, though.

Wait so you don’t like intentionally well made movies?

My problem with Skyfall is that it was basically The Dark Knight. Plus M died so it felt like nothing was really accomplished. Not to mention it’s a movie away from Casino Royale and now 007 is suddenly this washed up old agent.
The ending scene was badass because I thought it was going to lead to Bond being Bond again. Then we got Spectre.

So you like all movies people regularly categorize as "Oscar-bait"? I don't like when directors hire Roger Deakins and then think their movie is automatically going to be awesome.

Yeah. It's trying so desperately to be serious when it hasn't done anything in its writing to rise above the standard Bond fare. It's no better than, say, Casino Royale, which is a good Bond film. Mads Mikkelson is better than Javier Bardem, it helps that Mikkelson's character and dialogue aren't over-written practically to death. The Shanghai sequence is really cool. The Macao (or whatever island) stuff is intense. The climax is silly. It requires you to care about M, but it never actually tries to establish M as a complex character. It's all lifeless exposition. At the end of a movie, no less. It's standard "evil villain explains his plan" dressed up as emotional turmoil. It's phony. Additionally, I think Craig is a fine Bond, but his seriousness in Skyfall is comic.
Sorry, is that a good enough response to your flippant sarcasm?

The fact that Cary Fukunaga is directing keeps me optimistic.

Skyfall was a great Bond movie, but woof this is a bad take.

You quoted text that talked about two different things:
Which made it look like you were implying that Bond got hilariously shot down by Vesper in Casino Royale, when in actuality she was very attracted to him from the very first scene onward.
This idea of strong, independent women in the Bond franchise has been around since before even Casino Royale, which confused me even more as to what you were arguing. Halle Berry's Jinx was a bad arse secret agent for the CIA in Die Another Day and that movie was released four years prior to Casino Royale. Some of the more classic Bond girls such as Honey Ryder, Pussy Galore, and Tracy Draco were some of the strongest and most independent women of the franchise.
quote:
“The phrase ‘Bond girl’ was outlawed from the set. The women in this film are all strong, brave and fiercely independent. These women are not helpless girls who jump into bed with Bond – their reactions are very different from what people might think.
Bond tries his usual seduction techniques but they fail miserably. It’s very funny.”

One of the best parts about Skyfall was seeing M actually do something in a Bond movie. Judi Dench did well in the action scenes for an 80 year old.
I personally enjoy Casino Royale more, but Skyfall is a very well made movie.
