Should LSU try to control the national narrative?

The talking heads (Finebaum) and some coaches (Saban) start as early as possible every year pushing the narrative which most benefits their team. It’s smart, and I wish LSU, Orgeron, and the local media would too.
I’d love to hear Orgeron say something like “In my opinion you shouldn’t be able to go to the championship game if you aren’t a champion. Otherwise, you’re giving a benefit to the losing team — an opportunity to heal, to avoid injury, and to avoid the possibility of another loss to a quality opponent. If that’s the case, can we opt to skip ours and go?”

We should to try control the national championship game first. And then win it. That’s all I really care about

Orgeron needs to say that A & M is the best team LSU will face all year.

The time to politic on why you should be in is when you have lost a game.
The time to politic for what position you should be in is when have won out.
If you start angling for why someone else shouldn't be in you come across as insecure.

Narrative doesn’t mean shite if LSU wins all their games.

No. Win the battle on the field and the rest doesn't matter.
Just like 2007. Muhhhh 2 loss champs! I don't give a shite. The trophy is in BR.

LSU doesn't need to control any narrative. They need to win two more football games, and a narrative isn't needed.
So you want him to start pushing this, and then what happens if Georgia beats LSU? Then he is trying to control a narrative that would be keeping LSU out. That doesn't seem very wise.

I expect Woodward will lead some sort of push for this should we lose to Georgia or (heaven forbid) A&M. Being 11-0 and #1 in the country doesn't really require much national narrative other than "keep it up."

We still won a championship - the SEC west.
Why wouldn’t you try to control the team you play? Who cares what the perception is? Get yourself the easiest path possible to the championship and then “win it on the field.”
Don’t get me wrong, I love watching LSU playing Texas, Florida, and Georgia. But other teams have easier paths and I’ll value a championship much more than a season win over a ranked non-conference opponent.

We won our division. The SEC has one champion.

We don't control the team we play regardless.

By being the one seed you do have the "easiest path possible" by playing the 4 seed. Who the committee puts as the four seed isn't controlled by anything Orgeron says.
