re: Baton Rouge finally admits they are against St. G because they've used it as a slush fund

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
Except SGFD is not a parishwide entity but the EBRSO certainly is.

City entities like BRPD, BRFD, and City Court seldom sever anyone but those inside the city limits.
I wouldn't say they never serve outside the city. Never is too strong of a word because there are always exceptions.

I would think they would do so if there were some kind of “all hands” call where there were a major emergency.
For example, if the attack on the BRPD officers at the B Qwik had been in unincorporated EBR, there is a chance BRPD would have sent units if only to do crowd control while EBRSO handled the call itself.

You might be dealing with someone too dumb to differentiate the two.

Exactly, but for practical matters BRPD doesn't patrol outside of BR.

The guys on the ground, for the most part, repsond to emergencies and do their part to help out without really caring about the exact lines in the sand.

Honestly, they don’t patrol too much IN BR within certain areas.

City Parish Government has around a $1 billion budget. STG in other words took 2%
You need to go back and read the C-P Budget.
Sure the proposed budget totals 1 Billion dollars, but that includes all of C-P operations, most of which are not included in the General Fund where the property taxes and sales go into the General Fund. The very taxes SG will capture.
For instance the Library is included in the Budget, but it has its own separate budget, funding, and etc. When SG becomes a reality the Library will not be touched. It will continue with its own revenue stream from a parish wide property tax and fees it generates.
The same thing applies to MARC, the Sheriff, the Clerk of Court and the Assessors Office as well as other stand along agencies.
You also have road plans inside the budget that also have their revenue streams. The SG hit won't be felt throughout the budget; thus the wailing and gnashing of teeth from City Hall.
Now some of the operations that the C-P was paying on the behalf of the SG area will no longer be provided by the parish so there is a savings. The issue is the revenues the C=P was using from SG to pay for services SG wasn't getting.

It's funny that STG is no big deal to BR but at the same time they are fighting tooth and nail to prevent it

When the city leaders tell the bad guys they are short 100 cops and they are having trouble hiring because the pay is much lower than their neighbors, its really a bad situation.
Then when there's trouble and the cops are sued and the chief throws the department under the bus; you really have an issue.
And when the Mayor seems to support the current situation and is more concerned with things like stopping SG, putting out bike racks, putting in a bus line or building a grocery store; its even worse.

I wouldn't exactly say no one is dying, but it's at a MUCH smaller pace.
Since the start of 2017, StG has had 6 homicides total. The city of BR has had more than that in the last 10 days.

EBR consolidated government should be broken up. This is why. BR needs to support itself and stop stealing from rest of non-incorporated parish.

And wait till the annexations are completed. St George will be a one road town. Enjoy Burbank.
If all your annexations take place north Baton Rouge and Broome’s support will start protesting and asking for the crime free and economic powerhouse of Gardere as well as Merrydale and others to ensure BR stays chocolate.
BR, specifically North BR, wants taxable land with single owners and businesses not neighborhoods that have too many white people.
BR is largely a shithole and reason parish is losing population. The size of the shite is masked by the surrounding areas that people passing through incorrectly think are also within city limits. It’s the most disorganized city along with having the worst the public school system I have ever lived in, and that was before Katrina brought in changes. StG is both BR’s and EBR’s chance to stop the bleeding, but in usual BR fashion ignorance & greed trump common sense and growth to fight to keep a power structure in place & to keep others from succeeding not to actually to better themselves as a whole.

BR lost around $25ish million to STG.
City of BR shouldn’t be losing anything when unincorporated areas outside of city limits incorporat into their own city. Why wasn’t this spent in StG area or at least on parish wide services versus on city of BR services?
The rest of your numbers make it clear the lawsuit is fake and a waste of the mayor’s time. StG is not harming parish, city-parish, or even BR by incorporating. Lawsuit is petty, and you should be ashamed of your leadership for wasting any time on this.

People have to be tired of this shite? She'll get reelected. EBRP is 45% black and probably 20-30% of white people vote Dem. Too many people left for the neighboring parishes or out of state in the past several decades. Our best hope is to elect a moderate Dem like Kip again.
Pat Brister tried these scare tactics in St Tammany with we voted down her temporary tax renewal 3 times. She gone
