Chaisson is another Rahim Alem for LSU

Good lord. Watching replay from last night that guy might've contained maybe twice the entire game. He crashes to the inside breaking containment giving up huge gashing runs. Then on pass rush situations he runs 10 yards behind the QB. The OTs look more than happy to let him explode straight off the line for a QB to step up in the pocket. Does he have any inside moves at all? What did LSU's coaching staff see in this guy to hype him up so much?
I sure hope all those elite blue chips are looking at opportunity right now. We need help. Bad.

Our DL all around is underwhelming at best. We get virtually no pressure on the qb.
Watch other teams DL play.

He’s a great young man. But he is so inconsistent. But it’s not just him. A lot of our players are. Fulton and Stingley are the most consistent out of the whole defense. You can probably throw Stevens in there too. This D just looks awful at times.

I'm honestly wondering if he can still cut on that knee as well. Explains more straight line stuff like he is doing

Every poster on the Rant has almost as many sacks as Chaisson has this season.

Afraid he might get hurt! Doesn't seem to want to tackle!

Shelvin and Lawrence are the only defensive linemen that are consistently doing their jobs imo

He was an all time Tiger great after his performance vs Bama and now he's Al Wood's brother

Too worried about calling himself elite on socia media

From a "player" standpoint, this is actually a solid comparison. Alem was ALWAYS out of position.
From a "person" standpoint, Alem was a racist a-hole. From all indications, Chaisson is a great kid. I think he will get better and his attitude reflects that.

If this is the best we have we're in trouble. People keep hammering Aranda and maybe rightfully so he+O have not recruited the proper personnel on defense but I can see why he looks confused on the sideline. He has tried man, zone, blitzes, anything this year and this defense is just flat out bad. They're not that talented at any level outside DB.
Recruits should be seeing the opportunity to come in and play immediately here. Shelvin is the only bright spot in the front seven.

And when he crashes there is nobody behind him to fill in case he misses a tackle (which he does a lot). This has become ridiculous.
Also seem to be little gap control on the DL.

I don't think there's any fixing this defense at this point. It is is what it is and we're just going to have to hope they can come alive for the last few games that matter the most while letting us outscore on offense. The bright spot for this defense is they have made plays this season when they needed to. Not all that unlike a Clemson team a few years ago that had a pretty crappy defense that found a way to play good when it mattered.
Shelvin has been really good on line. Lawrence has had spots where he has looked good but I've seen him looking bad in spots too. I don't think the dline is that talented and I know they're there to eat blocks up a lot but too many times they're complacent when they can easily make plays. I don't think our dline is good at all. Not sure if that's scheme, coaching, or what but there's situations where they should be penetrating not standing around hoping a LB behind them can always fill the gap. They never live in the backfield of an opponent. I don't care if you're playing a 3-4/4-3 whatever they have to make negative plays happen SOMETIMES. You don't stand around 2-3 yards backwards just to let a LB fill the gap then let the oline dictate where you go instead of disrupting.

If they wouldve adjusted instead of standing around with a corn cob up their arse ole misses last two TDs would not have happened. A combo of terrible adjusting and lack of enthusiasm. The one time I noticed Phillip's as a spy on the qb, he had no fricken clue what to do and got tackled promptly at the line of scrimmage by 3 people.

Logan is good when healthy. Ika looks like he’s starting to come on. Fehoko and Ferrell have been solid. Thomas was looking good. We just don’t have that true dominant force a la Dorsey, Spears, Brockers

Neil Farrell damn sure is.

Y’all have such a recency bias. Chaisson and the DL have been GREAT against the run up until last night.
They had a shitty night playing against an offense that literally no one else runs.
The D needs to improve but let’s not act like they’ve been getting gashed all year.

I’ve never seen the hype live out in a game. Not once. Sam Montgomery was better. He is no Arden Key. The media wanted him to be but he isn’t.

Lawrence played bad last night. He has no lateral movement. Ferrel and Shevlin played well also Ika
