The positive side of the CFB Playoff Fiasco

Not saying I like what the committee has done by any means. But at least there are more good teams this year. I remember the last few years, there were very few quality teams that had any argument that they should be included in the playoffs. Last year, we automatically knew that there were only two teams that matter and everything else is a waste.
This year, there are so many teams that look so good and that could claim for a playoff spot. It’s going to make the end of the season all that more intense.

you're mad at the future? weird melt dude. at least wait until actual controversy exists. not the manufactured drama

What CFB playoff fiasco are you referring to?

The Playoff has had 3 “controversial” entrants in its short history. Those teams went 4-1 and won 2 National Championships
2014: Ohio State
2016: Ohio State
2017: Bama
Other than 2014 TCU/Baylor, which was a really tough decision anyway, what is the most debatable Final Decision that the Committee has ever made?

A real fiasco would be if a team that might be natty level was left out. That happens less with the playoffs than BCS.
I'm not sure you can really make a case that any team left out of the CFP to date had a real good shot at a NC. Generally, the teams that could win have been in.

People act like a 1 loss conference champ isn't gonna leap bama just because they are behind them right now. I really don't see any way bama keeps out a 1 loss pac 12 or OU big 12 champ. Baylor and minnesota probably need to go undefeated to get in but they at least control their own destiny

Auburn being penalized for beating Alabama, having to play UGA a 2nd time and lose, allowing Alabama to get back in

Only Bama was undeserving. Ohio State deserved both of their playoff berths.

They were penalized for beating Bama by being ranked third (going off memory here), with two losses mind you going into the SECCG? That's a ridiculous assertion, they respected the hell out of Auburn as they were clearly going to be in the playoffs with two losses.
Ridiculous statement.
Eta: just checked and Auburn, with two losses, was SECOND! after beating Bama. But yeah they were penalized

having to play UGA a 2nd time and lose

minnesota probably need to go undefeated
Say they lose to Iowa then win out
They will have two top ten wins (ohio state and Penn state) and and additional ranked win in Wisconsin
They would be in easily

Auburn wound up where they wound up because they had two losses before the SECCG.
Post-bowls, there were 5 P5 teams with a single loss and UCF being undefeated. Auburn's biggest problem happened before the SECCCG.

Wait, I want to hear this logic
So when 11-1 Ohio state, who lost to 11-2 Big ten champ Penn state deserved to be in over Penn st
But, in 2017 11-1 Bama didnt deserve to be in over 11-2 Big Ten Champ Ohio State?

How exactly were they penalized for beating Alabama? Had they lost the Iron Bowl they would have been eliminated. What they were penalized for was having 2 regular season losses before Championship Saturday

The comittee said Auburn was #2 and better than bama
Then, Auburn is forced to play an extra game due to beating Bama, which they lose dropping them below Bama who didnt play
The truth is conf champ games make this thing a mess for that reason.

Right, but that's not a committee problem. That's a conference problem. If you play a game, that's going to count.
The Big 12 went out and added that CCG and so far, the extra game has helped. But it's a two-edged sword for sure.

Lets assume pac 12 and big 12 champs both have 2 losses
I would for one be completely fine with Bama making it.
Now, LSU has to play an extra game for being the better team. It is just ludicrous for this to be the process
Imagine if in the NFL the division champs didnt get the byes, but the wildcard teams did. That essentially has happened and can continue to happen in college football

Actually 2017 Wisky is the better example
They were 12-0 after the regular season and in the top 4
Bama was 11-1 and not in the top 4
Wisky then is forced to play an extra game, dropping them below bama. That is so illogical its hard to type

Teams coming off byes jump teams that lost every single year
The committee saw Auburn lose by 3 scores and used it as data to take AU out of the top 4

I should have started with the 12-0 Wisconsin example instead of auburn.
