Just went through this in July. I could never see signs of him suffering but the vet gave him pain meds and said he had to have some pain. I may have waited a few days too long but I felt I decided when he just wasn't himself anymore.

OP, sorry for the news. Set a budget and tell whatever provider you see what you can spend. You might be surprised what’s available and in your price range.
Helps to let the docs know what you can afford so they can map out a treatment without leaving you broke when all is said and done.
Good luck

Man this kills me, I have a huge soft spot for animals. I'm sorry you have to go through this.
Take solace in the fact that you gave her a good life, and she doesn't know that it's any shorter or longer than expected. She will never know that her life wasn't normal.

My condolences. I took one of my pups to be examined. She has a lump on her abdomen. I feared t was cancer. Turns out it’s a hernia. Vet will repair it.
Have you considered a gofundme for your pup? There are millions of us dog lovers out here. I donate regularly to help save dogs.

Lost my pup to cancer but was blessed to have him for 11 years.
Lost my chocolate lab a year ago. Inoperable tumor. He was only 7. Still hurts to think about.
Sorry to hear of the OP's situation. Prayers sent.

Sorry man. It’s hard but you gotta let her go. Maybe see if you can find a few days off to spend with the last day capped at being the vet visit. Then go back to work and stay busy.

That sucks.
I found out that my black lab had testicular cancer back in May. Luckily it had not spread so the poor ole boy just had to get neutered, but I was freaking out until we knew for sure.
Now I cannot get his lazy arse off the couch.

I am sorry.
I held one of mine as she was put down. It was in New Orleans and the cancer that took her was very rare at that time in the New Orleans metro area. Diagnosis was by the LSU vet school who had seen it in some pets in Baton Rouge.
I had dealt with my Father's cancers four years earlier. Even though there was an attempt to remove my Father's lung, they got him open and then found more cancer.
I came away from the vets wishing that my Father could have been given a peaceful painless exit and that we treat our pets better than our loved ones with two (or less) legs.

My BM was diagnosed last dec and passed in May. 3 different types of cancer, melanoma. Ductal carcinoma and mast cell. We did surgery to remove and biopsy but it grew back quickly. He started having seizures and I knew it was time. Miss him everyday

Just show up at LSU vet school. No referral needed.
Until they got their own state of the art cancer center up and running, all the cancer pets were brought to Mary Byrd Perkins cancer center at night for treatment

I had to put my 3yr old bullmastiff mix down 2 years ago for lymphoma. Went to work and he was fine and came home and there was a softball size growth on his neck. From what I've read they are susceptible to lymphoma. Sorry for what you're going through. It's never easy.

I feel for you. Recently lost my 12 year old Black and Tan coonhound to stomach and bone cancer. Her leg bone broke while walking. Hardest thing I ever had to do.
RIP Zoe

Lost out 10 year old Beagle Monday
It sucks, it sucks bad
If it is treatable I would consider a consult at LSU
The consult is under 150.00 & will give you pricing up front before any tests are done
ETA
Just saw other post
Spend as much time & spoil him while you can
We were able to spoil ours for about 6 weeks before it was time
You will know when it’s time
As soon as his quality of life begins to suffer it’s time
It’s one of the most selfless things we can do, spare our beloved pets suffering
