We will not see our true team until 20-30 games in. We have 9 new players, and alot of them are getting significant minutes for the first time with guys they've never played a meaningful game with.

Ball is not being utilized like he needs to be, Redick's shot isnt falling early, Jrue starts slow every season, Favors is going to take time coming from a slow paced system to the fastest in the league.

If you came into the season expecting an immediate championship contender, then you set yourself up for disappointment, if you came in hoping to see a team grow together knowing they will take early lumps, then you're getting exactly what you knew would happen.

This early season adversity will make this a better team in the long run.

P.S. Next season we need to call up Rondo and bring him in to coach this team

Again,

If you expected an immediate championship contender, then its your fault for setting yourself up for disappointment

I expected a competitive team that won as many as they lost

We are 4 games into an 82 game season...

There's plenty of time

I did too, but look at our schedule.. Even the "easy" parts with games against Suns, Kings, OKC, Grizz, etc. no longer look like pencil-in wins

The West is just ridiculously good from top to bottom

If we had Zion we’d be 2-2 at the worst; likely 3-1. And that’s against 3 for sure playoff teams perhaps 4 if Dallas is for real

Not too worried yet

The problem is we should have won our first 2 games and probably would have if coach and team had a killer instinct to win the games instead of "feeling everyone out".

In a hole and will be tough to get out of.

I havent watched JJ on a night in and night out basis before, but I would imagine he's going to be streaky and there will be multiple times this year where he goes 4-5 games in a row where he is cold.

Yep. Shooters hit cold streaks..

Curry was shooting 20% from deep the 1st 2 games of the year. When they start hitting though, that's when they can hit 60-70% on a nightly basis

This team plays terrible flawed defense. I don’t know how anyone can sit there’s and expect him to get better. Their only hope is to run teams off the floor and even that isn’t working out well. It’s sad to see Monty Williams completely change the way the Suns approach defense from day one and watch Gentry preach defense only to give up 120+ on a nightly basis.

Unless you have an all world defender ala Davis, this defense is going to continue to be gashed in the paint by any half decent team.

What happened to first to 95 they were preaching in the summer?

Guys that shoot 39% or better from 3 for 10 years, don't go 4-5 games of shitty shooting. He's a career 41% 3 point shooter.

We've done very little to try to get JJ open shots like he has throughout his career. Feels like a lot of his 3's are coming with him off the dribble, which is not how i would think the majority of his 4000+ career 3P FG have been attempted.

I was watching the Clippers game last night and they were talking about how Doc uses Shamet. Doc said they were modeling his fame after JJ Redick and running the same type of plays they’d run for JJ when he was in LA. It’s so sad to watch because those screens and And actions were just beautiful to see and it really puts it into perspective. Gentry’s action and screens with Redick are extremely unimaginative and makes Redick work so much harder to get a little crease to get his shot off. It’s really bad.

This is the same shite we have always got with Gentry. Stop with this sunshine pumping nonsense. You know a good coach would have this team playing with fire, even if they were losing. You’re ok with that DALLAS 2nd q? You ok with the warriors loss? This is Gentry team through and through, bad habits and all.

I didn’t expect a championship. Hell I didn’t expect playoffs. I did however expect something different. I did expect fire, energy, hustle, discipline. Instead we get a turd sandwich.

But go look at how we have started each season under Gentry. This is par for the course. This is a team being held back. This is a team who’s seasons have all ended before they even started.

Yea thats just not true at all. Has averaged under %40 multiple times in his career. One year %.318 and another %.366. If you dont think he was streaking some in at least those season or in his 13 year career, you have lost it. 13 years in and the first 4 games of this season, the season he is on the team you pull for, happens to be the first time he has done this, you're just plain wrong.

Just because I wanted to go deeper, last year he almost shot %40. And I could go back and do this every single year.

One 4 game stretch he went 8/38. %.250.
Another 6 game stretch during that same season. Again, this is just one season, you think he hasnt been streaky at all throughout his entire 13 year career, he went 11/45. %.244.

So yea, he has 4-5 games of shitty shooting. Every year im sure.

Hey here's another fun one!

An 17 game stretch where he went 23/89. %.258. And 11 games where he mad1 or less 3's. But you're right, he's never streaky.

That was fun only looking at two seasons.

Half of every thread posted on here at the time was about firing Gentry. If I remember correctly, the official fire Monty thread was 8,000,000 pages long. Some may still claim that they never wanted Monty fired, but %99.99 of the posters on here wanted him gone.

Monty had us competitive but wasnt gonna help us move to the next level. I was and am glad he is not HC here.

I am also not a believer in Gentry as HC. Monty may be better but neither are championship caliber. I hope Griff can bring in the right guy for next year.
