We've got some Airline $$ that we need to use prior to it expiring in February, so we're looking at taking a trip to Arizona in December. We're open to Tucson, Phoenix/Scottsdale, or Sedona/Flagstaff. It'd be 3 couples in their late 20s, no kids. We'd like a good mix of outdoor activities and things to do each day but also a solid nightlife. Don't know anything about the area so looking for any rec.'s/advice

TIA

Sedona easy. Place you’ll remember forever with the beautiful country and plenty of outdoor activities to keep you occupied. PM me if you want specifics from recent trip we did.

Of you're looking for warm weather, Flagstaff is not the place to go in December.

Sedona is one of the most beautiful places in America.

Scottsdale is incredibly nice. They have access to really good hiking about 30-40 minutes away. We did the Flatirons when we went up for spring training, and it was awesome. Fairly difficult for flat landers like myself, but the view at the top was amazing and would definitely do it again.

The nightlife in Scottsdale is also incredible. They have a strip where they have tons of clubs and bars that are awesome and unlike anywhere I have really been before.

Our family summer vacation was an Arizona trip.

Flew into Phoenix. Stayed a few days in Scottsdale, drove to the Grand Canyon and stayed a couple of days, then drove to Sedona and stayed a few more days.

Really enjoyed all of it but we are definitely planning a return couples trip to Sedona.

Here is where we stayed....it was awesome.

How many days? Skip Flagstaff and GC. There may be snow. If more than 3 days, go up to Sedona and rent a couple of Jeeps for 24 hours. Spend the rest of the time in PHX/Scottsdale. If more than 5 days, take a day trip down to Tucson.

Splitting your trip Scottsdale and Sedona would be my recommendation. Scottsdale will hit the nightlife better than the rest of the state.

Sedona will take care of the outdoorsy part of your trip. The only downside of Sedona is less nightlife, but the days will make up for it.

If you want to split more heavily towards the outdoors, you could base out of Flagstaff. That enables a day trip to the Grand Canyon, gives you the in town stuff and puts you close to Sedona.

Could be a little out of the way depending on where you are going but I would strongly recommend Jerome, AZ. LINK
