Nightmarish.

I’ll take the Great Horned Owl 10/10 times. Majestic looking.

There are some pretty big magnolia trees near my parent's house and they have an owl in each one. Not sure what kind they are but they are big and grey. As a kid I had a puppy that I would take out at night to pee before I went to bed. One night I was out there and one of those damn owls swooped down to get the dog and must've seen me and swooped back up.

Scared the shite out of me and I never let that dog get far away from me at night after that.

From what I can tell those owls are still there and the fights those things have with crows is kick arse to watch/listen to. Apparently those two types of birds are known to fight a lot. Many dead crows have been found under those trees. One day I walked up on one that had about a half dollar sized hole right in the middle of it's chest. Owls do not frick around.

I'm not sure I agree that barn owls are nightmarish. But, I do agree that GHO's are much more badass.

Their faces are shaped like that to act as a parabolic dish, helps them hear better.

Fun fact for your next party.

I have a friend who raises chicken and he said this owl would come down and attack his chickens. Said the owl would rip the heads off and leave the bodies. Kind of gruesome and arse hole behavior on the part of the owl.

Yeah, I could see why you'd think they look a little... off
