Is Houston the New York of Louisiana?

Everyone in Louisiana aspires to go to Houston and make it big. It’s the gold standard for Louisiana baws. I-10 is like the Atlantic Ocean and Houston is Ellis Island. True?

People move to Houston because they can’t find a good job in Louisiana.

Naw, been to New York, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis and other big cities. Houston is a cool short trip to get your big city fix. Nothing really compares to New York.

zero desire to live or ever travel to that concrete jungle ever again

As I've said before it's the L.A. of LA.
The suburbanized megalopolis promised land.

Nothing against Houston but there are many other places I'd rather live in the country.

No one “aspires” to Houston. They’re forced to go to Houston because there are no jobs here. Houston is America and Louisiana is Mexico. Louisianians are the migrants fleeing poverty in their third world country fleeing, reluctantly, to the land of opportunity.

You are correct but it's kind of funny seeing it worded that way

No, but New York is the Houston of Rhode Island.

I’ll take Gulf Shores over the Jersey Shore. Not everything has to be pretentious.

Houston is alright. It’s got nothing on New York, Boston, Chicago.

Austin and Nashville are places people aspire to go to, not Houston or Dallas.

I think more people aspire to Dallas than Houston

I heard that Opelousas was the Newfoundland of Albuquerque.

Weird. I’ve lived in Louisiana for 60 years and have always had a good job. Maybe these migrants aren’t talented enough to be employed in Louisiana. Heck even illegals can find “work” in Texas. Doesnt take talent. If u can make in Louisiana you can make it anywhere.
