Yea, not sure why all the experts had them as title contenders. The surrounding crew is a lot worse than the Pels had minus James. If either misses time, they are doomed...

it was wonderful Lol and I'd if it's just me but LeBron looked slow out there and hey ad wanted the spot light right well now everyone is going to see how he just quits in some games or just disappears good luck with that

Find if fitting that AD went from 7 years of a roster with misfit pieces to a roster with even worse fitting pieces.

It has been hilarious listening to NBA radio today.
So much talk about AD being passive especially in the 4th, not playing aggressive defense (some saying he's a terrible team defender), having to play the 4 even though that's probably not what is best for the team.
This is going to be a glorious season for AD when everyone figures out this is how he plays most of the time. I guess when you play on national tv just a few times a year, no one really knows what kind of player you truly are.
I'll say this, when AD wants to ball, he's one of the best in the league without a doubt. That's what everyone saw in the Portland series. That's not who he is most nights in the regular season, which is why he has led his team to wins in the low 30's for most of his 7 seasons in NO.

I listened to Lowe and Windhorst break down the game and was shocked at their takes. How can they not see how this Lakers team isn’t very different from the AD Pels teams?

there has been a lot of national people dogging the Lakers and rethinking there projections for them this season already.
Forgot who it was, but they were saying how silly it was to have McGee and Howard each play 20 minutes, while the only true center from the Clippers played 10 minutes. they were questioning why would AD need to play with McGee and Howard against small ball lineups.
They couldn't understand why AD would insists on being the 4 in todays NBA. NO shite GUYS. WE'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THAT FOR 7 YEARS.
someone else had an awesome over reaction (which he stated was an over reaction) that the thought of AD claiming he wants to be DPOY is as comical as Hassan Whiteside claiming he wants to be DPOY. They really went after his lackadaisical defense he displayed last night.

Lowe was pretty realistic about what he saw. Windhorst was slurping the Lakers and throwing out excuses for every reasonable point Lowe made.

Maybe he isn’t that every night, but it’s hard to put up the numbers he does without being great most nights.
The stuff with him not wanting to play the 5 hurt the Pels a lot trying to build around him and how they played. It’s gonna happen with the Lakers.
The other thing is that just in general it’s harder for big men to close out games. When you think about guys hitting big shots in big games, it’s not really pf’s and c’s you think about. For the most part it’s perimeter guys with the ball in their hands closing out games, even if a big is the best player on the team.

For the type of skillset Davis possess, there’s really no excuse. He doesn’t command the ball in isolation in crunch time. He has the handles to create effectively on the high post. His midrange is automatic even off the dribble. He has a variety of moves and amazing touch that should allow him to effectively close games. He doesn’t have the mindset of a closer. That’s his issue. It’s a mental block and it’ll always be there.

Dirk and Aldridge don’t seem to have a problem with this, neither did Duncan and Malone before them.

Didnt get to listen to anything today. What ways were they defending them?

Yeah Dirk is an exemption to the rule. He was deadly from mid-range and a great 3 point shooter. Also a great free throw shooter.

Duncan and Malone before them.
As a Mavs fan, I was always more afraid of Manu closing out games than Duncan. Also Parker was an excellent mid-range shooter. Duncan would miss some free throws if you put him on the line.
Malone is kind of notorious for shitting the bed in clutch situations.

The point is, big men are capable of closing games out, especially one that is one of the best rim runners, as well as pick and pop big men in the game today.
AD is supposed to be this generational talent. If he wants to be a hall of famer, then play like one.
