What constitutes being an alcoholic or drunkard

I'm asking this question because I'm interested in where the line is drawn between an alcoholic and someone who likes to drink.
I drink every day because I enjoy it but only at home and rarely in public. I don't feel like I ever get "drunk" where I'm falling down and schitt. Don't get mean.
Recently I went six weeks without drinking to prove a point. It was hard I admit but no problemo. What say you baws? And if you say you're an alcoholic for asking you can frickk right off immediately mfer. Tia

Physical addiction. You can have a drinking problem and not be addicted.

If you have to ask......

Always felt like an alcoholic was someone that loved the numbing feeling after a few drinks and so on and so forth. Many people believe in varying degrees of it.

Don't dumb it down in your head. The disease isn't about consumption it's a lot more profound than that. Sometimes you don't even know if you're bitten you just think it's controllable. There is no such thing as a "limit" if your chemistry is what it is.

Someone who drinks every day

Was it hard because your body was craving it? If so, it’s probably a physical addiction.
Does that make you an alcoholic? I don’t think so - not necessarily. I think of an alcoholic as someone who abuses liquor.

Addiction
Someone who likes to drink wont get the shakes when not.

That's not exactly right either.

How many of you mfers are drinking right now

I am, but I can stop whenever I want.

Whatever I do + one more drink

I drank a lot from my mid-teens to my early forties but I've slowed down in a big big way in recent years. No conscious decision or big moment of clarity, just sort of lost the taste for it. It caused me problems more than once or twice but I never came close to bottoming out. There are functioning alcoholics/drunks. The idea that every hard drinker ends up in the gutter is pure marketing propaganda from the rehab industry.

Anecdotes are played out on the OT.
Maybe it's time to sincerely talk straight here. To help. The "shakes" isn't a symptom everyone has. The disease is much deeper.

Maybe a little of both? Physical and some mental. After all my body is used to having it. But my mind during the six weeks said no and it was fine.
The line is blurred depending on who you ask
