Welcome Who Dats & Who Datettes to week 7 of the Saints game thread!!
The Saints return to the national spotlight again today as FOX's "America's Game of the Week" and our meet-up with the defending NFC North champions, the Chicago Bears.
If you liked the 12-10 slugfest against the Cowboys or last week's 13-6 grind out of a win against the Jaguars, then this game promises to make you smile as more defense looks to be on tap between a Saints offense missing more weapons than a post-robbery armory while the Bears offense is... well... just unbearable at times. Chicago's offense, however, should be bolstered by the return of their starting QB Mitch Trubisky from a shoulder injury.
This game will be all about the defenses, a Bears defense that's 6th in yards allowed (312.2) & 3rd in points allowed per game (13.8) and a Saints D that is 10th in yards allowed (340.5) and 11th in points allowed (20.3).
So, Which offense will be able to get some movement, the Saints which rank 22nd in yards per game (344.7) & 18th in points (21.3)... or the Bears which rank 30th in yards per game (266.0) and 26th in points (17.4)?
LET'S DOWN THE BEARS AND PICK UP THIS BIG WIN AND COME BACK HOME 6-1!!!
The thing that hurts for the Saints is that the injury list now includes even more very key players from the offense. Not only is QB Drew Brees (thumb) & WR Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) out again this week, but so is RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle) & TE Jared Cook (ankle). On the defensive side, Trey Hendrickson remains out with a neck injury.
As noted above, the Bears expect QB Mitch Trubisky back in the line-up today from a shoulder injury, though he is officially listed as questionable for today. Also listed as questionable by Chicago, OL Ted Larsen with a knee injury who practiced fully on Friday, & DT Bilal Nichols who practiced fully on Wednesday & Thursday but was downgraded to limited on Friday.
Weather: Should be a lovely day for football in Soldier Field today. Temperature should be in low to mid 50s and mostly sunny with some clouds, no rain is expected today and winds only around 5 mph from the ENE
Uniforms: It worked last week... so why not do it again. The Saints will be back in the all-white, non-color rush uniform that made its debut last week in Jacksonville
Current Standings:
NFC South
Saints 5-1
Panthers 4-2
Bucs 2-4
Falcons 1-5
NFC North
Packers 5-1
Vikings 4-2
Bears 3-2
Lions 2-2-1

Can't wait for Saints to win this 14-10 with two defensive touchdowns, Bridgewater go 16/20 for 135 yards, and the Teddy Two-Glove Sunshine Pumpers to rave about the awesome game he had.
