Likewise, I'll reiterate what I've said in the past about the C8 as someone who bought a C7 Grand Sport in April despite following the progress of the C8 very closely. The only thing I dislike about the C7 is the amount of "cheap" plastic on it - particularly all the vents in the rear of the car. But I can tolerate them on the C7 because it still looks like a Corvette.
The C8 looks just a bit too exotic for the price in my opinion. It looks closer to a Ferrari or Lambo than a Vette, yet is a $60K with a shite ton of plastic components - that gives it a "kit car" feel to me. Anyone familiar with the "kit car" craze in the late '70s/early '80s knows what I mean. I would rather if the exotic looking car was a $100K+ offshoot (e.g., Zora) and not the next version of the Vette (C8). A car that looks like that shouldn't cost $60K - it just doesn't feel right to me.
That being said, the performance is phenomenal and frankly almost too good to be true for the price tag. It's a straight up game changer for the sports car industry and redefines expectations for all manufacturers. That alone may win me over. I still wouldn't buy one the first year because they couldn't even work out all the overheating issues in the C7 after all this time. But I wouldn't rule out trading in my C7 in a few years.

In reading some tests the C8 has a very deep first gear and a pretty short 2nd as well to take advantage of the rear weight bias. Explains the insane 0-60 vs quarter mile time.
Tops out at 31 mph in first while the C7 would hit 51.

I like the new Vette, but I fear that price point is going to make them like Camaros when they reemerged in 2010. They will be literally everywhere and the exclusivity factor will diminish. Other than that I can't wait to check one out up close.

Old men everywhere are going meet light poles sideways when they run out of talent.
If they leave all the nannies on then it’s pretty hard to lose control of the car. My c7 z06 makes 740whp and I have pushed it past my abilities at NOMP and never lost control. I tried to run the same lap times in track mode with the nannies off and lost the rear end several times and couldn’t come within 4 secs of my best lap time in Sport 1.
These cars are amazing for what you pay.

I was referring to when the XLR came out...heard a bunch of old folks ran out of talent in these.
ETA, apparently you can pick up one of these for <$15k.

Any overheating issues with your Z06 at NOLA?
I could have bought a Z06 for just a few grand more than my Grand Sport but was afraid of the overheating problems.

No one buys a corvette for the exclusivity of it. That's asinine. When I had one no one thought twice about it. It's a solid sports car that is a blast to drive. The C8 steps the game up big time.

Geriatrics are the demographic for the Corvette.
Old men don’t typically like European cars as much. Chevy has been moving toward the 30-50 year olds for a decade or so.

None at all but I didn’t run in in the heat of the summer.

Challengers: False. Thats
"Urban" Youth Oriented. Even the Hellcats.
Camaro: another "Urban" car except for the 1LE and ZR1.
Mustang. Possibly,only pre 2007 models.
But you nail the demographic for Corvette.
Almost none of that is correct.
The average age of a Challenger buyer is around 51, which is actully younger than the Camaro or Mustang buyer.
Corvette skews a bit older, but obviously as a two-seater sports car, that isn't completely unexpected.
GM is going after the 911/Cayman buyer which tends to be mid to upper 40s. They are also trying to sell 25-30K units per year.
ETA: Facts, not outdated "opinion"

Gift me one and I'll gladly take the title of geriatric.

Lots of younger guys buy them. Always been a solid reliable car that you could track on the weekend, drive it home, and use to go to work.
