Mrs. and I are looking into options now and, of course, don't want to drop 2-4 stacks if we don't have to. We have been sleeping on a lumpy POS for years and its catching up with our backs. I have heard firm is best for back pain but don't really like the idea of firm.

No clue where to even begin. Firm, Plush, Medium ... Foam, Spring, Hybrid, Bed in a box ... Don't want to go talk to some salesman and not know a damn thing. There seems to be such a wide range of prices.

Right now, MattressFirm is running a promotion to get an adjustable base free with +$600 purchase. Their prices don't seem to bad but I found the same models cheaper on Overstock and Wayfair.

Get an ok mattress and spring and get a nice mattress topper from sams or Costco. Saving money right there.

Im really a fan of my casper. i've had one for 3 years. Hasnt worn out or gotten soft in the middle. Silicone foam top so you dont sweat and it stays cool.

Im going through this too.

After all the research I did, bed in box seemed the way to go. We got a Purple king, and it hasnt really worked out. We are about to call them for refund/return. From what I gather, they write it off and have a local charity come pick it up for you. We're gonna order a Casper king in the meantime so it's ready to go when the Purple leaves.

I like the fact they give you time to sleep on it then return. Feel like you cant judge a bed until youve slept on it for a week or so.

I have seen ads for things I have searched for before. But seems like NOTHING tops the money these guys spend on ads. Search for one once or twice and every damn page will have a mattress ad.

Casper looks like a great option. Surprised to hear negative things on a Purple. I was considering that one

Second saatva. Took about a week to get adjusted to the firmness but man it’s been awesome.

In 2007 we purchased a temperpedic matress. After 2 years my wife had enough and her back was killing her and she went out and bought an expensive traditional type mattress (seally postrapedic world class). After another 3 years it was done and nobody was happy sleeping on it. We spent a good 2 months shopping with no luck. At last resort we went into a sleep number store and ended up buying a sleep number i8 mattress in 2012. 7 years later we arer still loving the mattress and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I did stay at a hotel once that had a cheap sleep number mattress and did not like it, but the i8 is amazing. Probably one of the best purchases i have ever made.

When times get tough and the families are all at war you go to the mattresses which means you fricking hide your arse in a safe house with guards on each floor.

Since you didn't say where you live, I am going to assume Baton Rouge. Go to Wholesale Mattress and Factory at 13565 Florida Blvd near Flannery.

we picked up that highly reviewed 14" king mattress in a box from costco (it was on sale for $500 which happens every other month or so) figuring it was cheap and we could return it if it sucked.

so far we're loving it. very comfortable and cool to sleep on.

Don’t buy a Nectar, it’s like sleeping on your driveway and is a hassle to return
