I think most people that are criticizing the move are criticizing the fact that this appears to be a rash decision with little to no strategic planning on how to exit without completely fricking over our long term allies.

I'd love for us to completely vacate our presence in the Middle East, and stop sending our troops over there to either their death, or a life of torment from PTSD once they return. But doing so would lead to a power vacuum that will be filled by those with evil goals. We should have learned that lesson with Obama's withdrawal in Iraq, and that one had significant planning and coordination. Though it was also a larger scale exit.

How was it rash when he was saying he will get us out of Syria even before he became president? He stated last year we are getting out soon, he withdrew troops this year and stated again soon we are getting out. Now, we are getting out. Guess what, we are still going to be arming and funding the Kurds
