I have always despised Florida, just about ever since I could say "Geaux Tigers!" But I'll admit that I don't think I ever really saw them as our biggest rival until just a few years ago.

My reason: Looking outside of just one individual sport, Florida is probably our most consistent, heated competition in just about all of the SEC sports we compete in. Like LSU, UF fields highly competitive and successful teams in football, basketball, baseball, softball, track/field, gymnastics, golf, soccer, and swimming/diving (even though LSU isn't that consistently great at the last 2). But my point is I don't think any other SEC program comes as close to being as competitive as LSU in all of those sports combined on a year in/year out basis. Therefore, I end up despising Florida regardless if it is fall, winter, spring, or summer regarding the match-up, because they always seem to be in our way. There are certainly other reasons that can be listed such as general disagreements like the hurricane debacle, their horrible fans, or their arrogance; which are all perfectly acceptable reasons.

The only other school I could make an argument for would possibly be A&M; but I'll admit, that is mostly because I have always despised A&M, as it comes from my grandfather and my dad.

I get that some will say the usual suspects of Bama or possibly Auburn, but I think when you look at it, most generally hate them b/c of one predominant sport and not from an overall general athletic competitiveness. So what's your argument?

TLDR version: I hate Florida because of them being good and competitive with LSU in just about all sports, not just football.

There is just a completely different feel when we play FL. Trash talking starts on Monday..early adrenaline. Even the players are more involved compared to any other team.

We've actually won a game in the last 8 years.

No. UF is not our biggest rival. We have no biggest rival in the sense that both schools reciprocate the feeling. F$U and UGA are faaar bigger rivals for UF than LSU.

WE can be SEC rivals as often are contenders when we play in several sports.

LSU's natural rival, Tulane, took itself out of that relationship.

I dont have an argument. But you made a decent case if one considers multiple sports.

Its all about football with me at this time of the year. The gumps are LSU's rival and will be most decades in the future.

They are the closest mirror image to us athletically in each of the major sports. If you traded uniforms on the players, or had both teams stand across from each other naked, they would look the same position by position.

These are my reasons exactly. Until about 2014, I said Bama, but it's not a rivalry when it's completely one-sided. I do think this is the year that we finally take down the midget, though.

LSU has an antagonistic relationship with about damn near every school they play regularly. Even Arkansas has moments of being an annoyance to us. The only one who really doesn't is Mississippi State and they even have 2 victories in the last 5 years and are also our most played opponent ever. And I couldn't' be more pleased that we have that. It makes damn near every SEC game feel like a big deal. Oh we've got Florida this week? well shite I hate Florida. Auburn the next week? Damn I hate those frickers too. Alabama? Can't stand them and their arrogance. And don't let those trolls on the SEC rant fool you. The LSU game to every single school in the SEC is one of their biggest games and one they'd love to win and hate to lose about as much as any of them. LSU has no rival anymore but it makes every game feel like it has great importance.

I’m not really into trying to rank teams. I hate everyone in the SEC outside of Georgia. frick them all but frick Florida, Bama and Auburn specifically.

Agreed. I was talking about this with someone today, that it just feels like the players in the last couple of years or so have publicly remarked their disdain for UF more than just about any other school.

I didn't say make an argument for why LSU should be considered Florida's biggest rival. I said to make one for why they are our's.

I agree that LSU doesn't seem to have the long standing naturally built in rivalries anymore like once held with Tulane and even Ole Miss. And I often times wish we did. But geography isn't the only reason, nor should it be, for a rivalry. The same goes for time. A school shouldn't be ruled out as a rival simply because we don't have decades upon decades of bad blood between us. Hell, most on here consider Bama a rival and that is mostly just because of recent years in football. Before Saban went there, I never really would have considered Bama as some big rival.

I've hated Florida since the late Dewayne Schintzus (sp?) played basketball there during the 80's-90's. Through Steve Spurrier, Billy Donovan, the QB Chris "I gotta wear every accessory that I can fit on me" Leak dink dunking us. They are some smack talking lip flappers.

I think you kind of contradicted yourself there, hoss. But I'm sure you probably knew that.

agreed, and I miss having a true hated rival going back 40 or 50 years.

Yes, we have a few really hard, emotional games (Alabama, Florida, Auburn, even Arky in the past) but none rise to the level of a "rival."

Yes, Tulane was our rival back when they were in the SEC, but those days are long gone.

I really couldn't care less about if their fans or good people or not. I have friends that went to UF; doesn't make me dislike the school/teams any less.
