JBE's legalized bribe to teachers for their vote ...

JBE imo slapped teachers in the face and showed what a under the table politician he is by insulting teachers with a 1k annual raise or a payoff for a vote...yes I know 1k is better than nothing but he did it at
...voting time basically bribing teachers for their vote...
...Louisiana is ranked last in the southern average in teacher pay... teachers are around 3k annual below the average....if JBE wanted respect from teachers he should of fought harder to get their expected pay...not slap teachers in the face with a 1k raise that will result in an already higher tax rate in lousiana jbe imposed when Trump was funneling money back into everyone's paycheck, JBE raised taxes and also health insurance looks to eat at least half of that 1k raise like vampires....this is all cosmetic and not at all a real change...JBE isn't an honest govenor...
vote for a Republican who will work with Trump to get our economy going(jbe will never work with trump) and who will bring change

i guess my point is if i were a teacher I would feel he is trying to insult my intelligence for the reasons above I mentioned....I hope every teacher sees thru his bs and votes red

Correct, I’m married to one. Her and many of her friends have echoed basically what OP just said, especially about higher taxes eating into it. It was pretty obvious it was a kiss arse, patronizing move.

Me too. My wife and all her teacher friends feel like it was a slap in the face and purely political. They see through his bullshite.

Yes I'm married to a teacher and they laugh about the 1K raise.
However... that 1K raise led to our school board reworking their budget and coming up with an additional 2600 per year per teacher. So our teachers got a 3600 raise this year.
I don't know if that happens if the 1K wasn't announced first. Maybe it does... but there wasn't any talk about it.
Also, I wonder if JBE proposed something like 5K... if the legislature would have gone along with it. I didn't see anyone in the GOP in the legislature saying, hey, let's do more...

i would feel the same, now if he played hardball and got the 3k raise to bring teachers to even then maybe he would get teachers interested and not do it at voting time

JBE has to do something. Jindal gave them their last raise back when we paid close to the Southern average. JBE had to diffuse that “weapon”.

Just for comparison, starting teacher pay in my school district in TX, is 55,000. That is after our Republican governor and congress voted on a raise this past year. It went from 51,500 to 55,000.

yeah a friend of mine left la. for a teacher job in Houston area and got a 12k raise on yrs of experience...she says la. is wayyy below texas in teacher pay...

I work for a state system. I remember not getting raises for 6 years in a row with a bunch of other years of not getting raises. Or we'd get a week off or some shite instead of a raise or maybe a 1 time $500 bonus.
I'll never bitch or whine about getting a $1000 raise or a 3% raise. I don't care if the raise is political. Doesn't sound like him doing this is going to garner him any more votes, so why you bitching so much?
