So far I've looked at Hilton Waikoloa Village and Westin Hapuna Beach.

I stayed at the Fairmont orchid north of Kona. It was amazing, had a beach and spa and really nice bar

We stayed on budget in 2012 at Sheraton at Keauhou Bay. It was okay for a base, we weren't at hotel much. Had a good time. Going back later this fall and booked at Fairmont Orchid for anniversary. Looks like an upgrade from where we stayed in 2012.

Have fun! Mahalo

The Hilton is super nice. It's huge.
They really don't have a sand beach on the ocean though. They have a man made one on their lagoon.

Just stayed at the sheraton kona and it had excellent service but rooms were a little outdated. About 15-20 min north of town so bit out of the way, but right next to a golf course and on the water

I really enjoyed spending a night in an Airbnb in the town of Volcano, right outside the national park. That was ideal for exploring the national park during the day and then going back after it was fully dark, to see the red glow from Kilauea.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m going to try to book something this weekend.
