Does It Bother You That Pro Athletes Get Paid More Than Teachers?

Had this conversation the other day. I was having a conversation with someone talking about the NFL (it was a general fantasy football conversation) and when a particular person passed by he just jumped in and was all like “I can’t believe y’all even support these athletes. They make way more money than they should. A percentage of money they make should be used to pay teachers, police, etc”.
I asked him he he is a capitalist and he said “well yes!” And then told him how they get paid the market value. And that if they only made a fixed amount then the money not paid to players would go to the owners. He argued about how a person should get paid on their value to society, etc.
Does anyone agree with the whole “get paid based on your value to society” bullshite?

Almost any college educated person can go teach at some level.
In the Entire World, maybe 50 people can play QB in the NFL at a high level.

Ain’t nobody paying to join a fantasy teacher league. Ain’t nobody trying to watch a bunch of teachers tackle each other on network tv, besides me.

Most government employees are very overpaid, especially if you factor in benefits. Teachers and cops are certainly not exceptions to this.

This is true, but I think it goes beyond that. Why do movie stars, TV personalities, musical artist make as much as they do? It’s the demand.
People are not paying to watch someone teach.
