You know the media never misses a chance to drive ratings by dividing America

Wonder when they will show up to start the narrative

Already saw Brian stelter tweet about it yesterday

Probably already been touched on by outfits like “Now This” and “AJ+(aka Al Jazeera). Reminds me of a situation here in the Birmingham area. The city of Gardendale wanted to attract younger families by doing what many other metro cities have done, create their own independent school system. National stories painted it as segregation all over again.

I am not that familiar with it. The one person that seems to be really interested and versed on the topic if LSURussian

From what I understand there is a section of Baton Rouge that wants to create its own ISD or something and the bottom dwellers in Baton Rouge don't want it because of the tax revenue.

Hopefully they send Don Lemons down here for one of his shows since he's from here so we can troll him and CNN mercilessly.

A few years back CHANGE.org was raising their awareness about the St George movement and that movement is racist. Since the Dims found a way to remove names from the ballot and it failed the 1st go around. I think that it quenched the organization's thirst at the time and it hasn't showed up again on my email.

I am not sure how I ended up on the batshit crazy email list of CHANGE but they think I'm an ally.

Change.org batshit crazy national organization

The funny thing is that it's not really a section of Baton Rouge at all. Essentially an unincorporated area south of BR is attempting to form their own city with the ultimate goal being to break away from the East Baton Rouge parish school system. It's no different than what Zachary and Central did years ago.

They already have. I saw a piece on MSN frontpage about a year ago trying to push the segregation angle

I actually like him a lot and he brings up good points on both sides. I also think he has a vested interest in maybe his kids attend(ed) magnet schools although I have no proof but he's pretty passionate about the subject.
I would estimate ninety percent of white opposition to St George are liberals and/or magnet proponents. Surprisingly, I think most are good parents who care about their kids but what happens if your kid misses the lottery attempt to get accepted. The alternatives are usually C,D, & F rated schools. In addition, the violence is a problem that city officials ignore even at middle schools.

I get those arguments but some are weak like the "NO NEW TAXES... Say No To St George!" I see these in my neighborhood and .

My taxes have constantly gone up and little to nothing is being done to improve this area. At least with Kip he acknowledged the revenue generated by this area and would throw us a bone from time to time but this current regime has zero respect for those of us in this area. They are the parasites and we are the host. That's our relationship with the local government.

it is a racial issue.

not racist, but racial.

not sure what the problem is. let people live among their own cultures w/o having to piggyback off superior cultures.

if people want to live like animals, kill each other, etc, then let em. just let em starve to death too, stop supporting it.

a simple solution to inner city culture spreading is to stop paying the bill for it. it would go away in one generation.

He sure got knocked off his pedestal and shut up about it after it started to look like the incorporation effort was going to work.

Nope, not racist at all lol

PS - for the record, I'm in favor of people being able to organize the way they want and if I lived in St. George, I would vote in favor. But the way you phrased this - good Lord.

From another out of towner that’s studied it a bit, SG is an unincorporated area that is a part of EBR parish. They get Parish services but not city of BR services. Since the cities’ and parish governments intermingle in LA, the city of BR gets to have a lot of say where the money goes.

As the current mayor and a lot of leadership is democrat and minority, they tend to spend money in poorer areas for projects that don’t benefit the entire parish. SG doesn’t get new roads, schools, etc. but other “needy” areas do get new schools community centers, grocery stores in food deserts.

They want to stop sending money to the parish/city and have their tax dollars stay in SG.

How did I do guys?
