When societies aren't in build mode but are just existing there's no great cause holding them together so they rot from boredom.
completely nonscientific but there's nowhere that has reached a level of success and then just stayed there forever, although a few hundred years is effectively "forever" for individuals

Watching the aftermath of 9-11 the other day made me think "People have really gotten shittier in the last 18 years"

I watched it thinking that it doesn't seem like that long ago until I see the video footage

Now, you can blame technology or whatever you want, but humanity has seen technological breakthroughs before. Through it all, the role of the father, mother, and children didn’t really change. Our DNA is the same. So what’s changed?
Nothing has changed. You watched a “show” dictating the ideal, perfect American family life. The point is, life certainly wasn’t like that back then, and it sure isn’t that now.

Moral breakdown, acceptance that sin is OK
The idea that morals are any worse now than any time in history is nuts. Go read Hemingway, or Shakespeare or whatever historical tome you choose. We are just much more aware of what our peers are doing in this day and age.

quote:Yep. It's been creeping like an oaktree lifting a sidewalk. The camel has put his nose under the tent. This is what tolerance has brought us. Tolerance. Like giving a fox the key to the henhouse.
You have this planet where humans have a certain natural order, it goes on for thousands of years, then suddenly those same humans, without any input from outside of their planet, begin to reject that natural order.

Now watch All in the Family with your kids and show them how things really were.

The difference is society used to disapprove of these things
Abortion, drug use, homoxexuality were once looked down on instead instead of encouraged.
The big one, approval of illegitimate births, is currently destroying America's cities and the black family

Consider that your ideas of what is masculine and feminine have been shaped by that television show and other tropes repeatedly observed in modern culture.
Had you been raised in a matriarchal culture, for example, you would find this male-dominated government and business society utterly baffling.
Nope. You are legit retarded.
There is a genetic phenotypic reason men have certain roles and women have others. Hint: propagation of species.
You are damned ignorant of evolutionary anthropologic science and it is goddamn hilarious. How enlightened you are, you fricking toaster oven.

The pussification of America on full display.

Spot on.
Include the Canterbury Tales. Written in the 14th century.

Imagine thinking Leave it to Beaver was an accurate portrayal of American life

Wrong, except for homosexuality.
You clearly don’t know your history.
