I am pulling for the kid. After hearing the story of his upbringing and struggling when he first got to LSU. Even if football doesn't work out, he got that degree and nobody can ever take that away from him.

On the football side, I've been a bit disappointed he has zero touches in two games. I know Thad Moss has passed him up as TE1 (and rightly so), and Sullivan would now be our 4th WR at best.. he might even be behind McMath/Dillon at this point. Was listening to some 104.5 shows and they talked about how there really just isn't a spot for him even after they compared his role to Jimmy Graham in the spring and fall.

I know the season is still young and I think he'd be a great red zone weapon with his size. Hope he gets to contribute a bit more going forward. I'm sure he'll get some touches in the next few games at least. On the bright side he appears to be a great teammate. Still see him celebrating with his teammates even when he is only out there blocking and not catching balls.

While I want him and anyone else on this team to succeed personally, we all want LSU to succeed first. If he keeps working at it and grinding, maybe he will get his chance to shine.

I agree 100%. I want him to get involved but not to the detriment of the success of the team - and I'm sure he feels the same way. I'm probably just a sap and pulling for him more than normal after hearing his story.

With the pressure the WR's are putting on defenses, it is a matter of time before the TE's become wide open.

i was thinking the same thing i know one of the reasons he converted over to TE was because of the film they showed him of Jimmy Graham and how many opportunities he would have at that position i want to see him get some touches i know he's feeling some kind of way

I’m ready to see them line him up 1v1 out wide in goal line situations. At 6’7”, who could cover that.

Agree with bayou85. There has to be a role for him in the red zone.

It’s coming.

WR’s have ALL been open and making plays, but make no mistake, some big plays are coming for the TE position.

He played a good bit Saturday. Sullivan has a huge frame but I just think he has issues getting separation from DBs. The scheme is there... Its up to him at this point.

It's pretty clear that moss beat him out at TE. They will have to figure out how to use him at WR again. Dee getting suspended should help him in that regard.

oh its coming... its a long season... Sullivan will get his touches, Defenses will be all over our WR's in the coming weeks... then that 6'7 TE over the middle will be wide open.. i just hope hes on the jugs machine 24-7, its his only weakness... sometimes he has the drops... cant have that this year... too many options... Burrow throws a very soft/catchable ball... prob the easiest guy to catch from...

Games like this weekend are the time to try things out. Say you do a goal line fade route to Sullivan and it works. It Gives the coaches confidence that it will work vs SEC competition later on in the season

DeAndre Baker. We did this against Georgia last year and Baker broke it up. Obviously a perfect throw probably beats him as Sullivan can fully extend, but jump balls involve so much strength, agility, and timing that Chase and someone like Devonte Lee are probably our best guys there.

I’d argue Sullivan’s size is best used in the middle of the field where you need to throw over linebackers and he doesn’t need to win 1v1 off the line vs a cornerback, which sounds like the team’s plan even though we haven’t seen him get any opportunities yet.

Is he in the dog house for some reason? Has he been playing any?

He was one of the top corners in college football last year. The average SEC corner isn't near as good as he is.

I feel for Dillon as well. He’s a senior and barely sees the field. All these guys come to LSU with aspirations to go pro. Maybe that’s why im not a coach, because I would be starting Seniors over underclassmen.

Advocate

He was forced to move around a bunch as a kid between Texas and Louisiana. Some nights ended up sleeping under a bridge. I know a lot of athletes have similar stories but this is one of the more prominent ones I can remember. In hearing interviews with him he seems like a great young man. And like I said, even if football doesn't work out, he's got that degree for a lifetime.

ETA: In reply to Skillet above

Don't think he is in any sort of trouble. He has been on the field in both games but hasn't been targeted and has only been out there blocking. Unfortunately (for him) we just have some absolute stud playmakers and he has kind of been lost in the mix. I think he will hopefully play a role for us at some point this season though.
