We set out another GoPro cam box and this time we captured an impressive storm surge from the Pamlico Sound from point blank range!

They needed to mount that Go-Pro just a little higher..
However, it does looks like got that condenser unit just high enough...
Crazy video, thanks for posting...
Looks like they got that vehicle parked by the other camp out in time..

I always used to think those houses were built higher than necessary, but with the waves in those first couple rows of houses? Nope.
That's crazy stuff.

Was that a duck or goose in the water at 5:03?

Would I like to live by the ocean, yes.
Will I, no.

I've been to Buxton many times over the past five decades. Buxton is where the long skinny almost treeless north-south barrier island 'decides' to turn west. When you are driving south on the OBX, it's were there are real large sand dunes with ground cover and old trees. It used to be where the houses changed from looking to be disposable/rebuildable to real homes.
Really nice people have live there for generations.
Great film, thanks for sharing.

Now, imagine the storm surge a week before with 185MPH winds pushing it.

Cool video, but I wonder why they didn't save the boats? Looks like they're sitting on trailers at the beginning of the video.
You can see them floating around at 3:30

Man I was rooting for that house. Looks like they got it just high enough.

For the first couple minutes of the video, I kept looking for a condenser but couldn't find it...thought to myself, "Where in the flip does he see a condenser?". Then about 3 minutes in, the wave action nudges the Go Pro back toward the camp. AH HA!
