Players cramping and how the game played out, STOP jumping to conclusions

I don't understand why fans (many of ours included) can be so delusional when it comes to this topic and comparing our defenses issues with cramping and how Texas did not have that problem. There are reasons why players cramp and before jumping to conclusions, I know very few people do that here....
FIRST, LOOK AT THE FACTS AND HOW THE GAME PLAYED OUT PEOPLE:

- 1st half was fairly even with the play count and TOP tilted in our favor
- In the 2nd half our defense played 51 defensive snaps vs the 27 defensive snaps for Texas.....nearly TWICE as many plays (47% more)
- Time of possession was ridiculously in favor of Texas in second half @ 20:38 vs LSU's 09:22.... THIS IS CRAZY and result of our high octane offense scoring at will almost
- LSU longest drive was 2:44 and never had a possession longer than 6 plays (4 times)...Texas defenders were on and off the field before McConauGAY could say "alright, alright, alright"
- Texas had 2 drives in the second half of 19 plays and 10 plays that lasted a total of 13 minutes and 16 seconds....THIS IS MORE PLAYS AND TIME THAT OUR DEFENSE SPENT ON THE FIELD IN THOSE TWO DRIVES ALONE THAN TEXAS DEFENSE DID THE ENTIRE 2nd HALF
- Last point I want to say is I think how the start of the 3rd quarter played out is what was a killer to our defense giving up big numbers in the 2nd half - we go 3 and out, Texas puts together a 19 play drive followed by our offense punting after a possession that lasted just 01:41 and put our defense right back on the field. We had couple guys go down with injuries in the first long drive (i dont think Lawrence nor Logan made it back into the game? could be wrong) and was start of our guys cramping in very difficult conditions.
Now, if reports of us choosing not to take fluids at half is true then our training staff needs to wake the frick up. I don't know if Texas guys did, but would think we are smarter than this given the conditions.
With that said, reading on here and listening to radio here in Houston, it sounds that most everyone just looks at this issue as all things are equal and our players cramped and theirs didn't so our conditioning is to blame and IMHO just shows ignorance. Could it be better, of course it could and I bet you any coach would say that about their team.
Our boys play and practice everyday in 90+ degree heat with 100% humidity....your not going to find many teams that deal with that day in and day out and your sure as shite not going to find many teams that can make it through a 2nd half of football in the conditions our boys played in and not have cramping problems. I was cramping at the game just from standing there in that heat (im sure booze didnt help either).

I hope our defense is tougher than this. We had a 13 pt lead and they still had momentum from stopping Texas on a 3 and out before half

LSU knows how to play the game. Especially under Miles LSU was great at using well timed “take a breather” injuries to slow down an offense and let the d rest for a second.
LSU had a couple of legit injuries but most of them were done to take a breather. It’s not a big deal. LSU is making excuses because they don’t want to admit it’s what they were doing. And they don’t want the NCAA to make a new rule.
It’s not against the rules.

probably one that jumps to conclusions on this topic as well, but on a phone I could see it being a bitch to read oh well

I highly doubt LSU takes Delpit and Divinity out of the game to get fluids for an extended period and say guys were working the system. Guys were legit cramping.
If you played any sports at a competitive level you would know this, you get a cramp in your calf or hamstring you are not running off that field in enough time to not get flagged for to many men on the field and only risk further injury.
Guys cramped, but there is legit reasons why they did. Just aggravating hearing all this BS that we were "cheating the system" by faking injury

It felt like we were playing off too much in the secondary and it cost us one first down after the next. Maybe an adjustment in the secondary could have allowed us to minimize the Tx time of possession and rest our defense more. Probably even give our Ferrari offense another series or two.
Bend but not break is all well and good, but SE isn't known for his deep passing accuracy, so pressing a little might have been low risk/high reward in that situation.

Agreed, Aranda brought pressure on 1st and 2nd downs but 3rd downs played more safe and zone coverage which allowed SE to find soft spots or slip out and scramble for chunks or yards as LB'ers were assigned to covering their zones. We didn't do what was needed to get off the field and gassed our guys being on the field for so long

You guys can say what you want about the players conditioning. I was out at gameday saturday morning & I had to be taken to the ER for severe heat exhaustion. IV treatment cost me out the arse. I ended up selling my tickets and watching the game at our airbnb. That heat was no joke. FYI, I didn't drink the 1st drop of alcohol saturday...

Which ones, though?
I mean obviously the ones that sent Delpit and Divinity and Lawrence to the locker room were legit.
There was one after a sack, which is the opposite of when you fake an injury to slow down the game. And one was between a TD and the extra point, which makes no sense in terms of slowing down an offense.
Were there times when a player with a relatively minor injury stayed on the ground or went to the ground instead of trying to hobble off? Probably. But that's not the same thing as just faking an injury to disrupt an offense.

I'm a distance runner. I run 70 mile weeks and 20 mile long runs. I ran 12 miles last month when the heat index was about 100 here and did a bunch of yard work afterwards. I drank water and Body Armour throughout the day, but at 6:00 my entire body started cramping up, and I writhed in pain for about 2 hours. There are a bunch of posters who have no idea what the frick they are talking about when it comes to dehydration and cramps in that kind of heat. Good conditioning may help, but it won't prevent heat exhaustion.

Planned ‘Take a Breather(s)’....are you serious? Maybe 2 best LSU Defensive players, one an All American, leaving the field for a good part of a quarter and in the locker room for IVS was part of the gameplan?

the boos in the stadium coming down on our guys after the sack was ridiculous, I turned around to ask the guy screaming in my ear we are cheaters how it benefits us to fake an injury after a huge sack....too which he had to answer too and continued to show his class

Funny how TX didn't cramp. I could have sworn they were on the same field.

Do you have a legitimate response to my OP on cramping or you just like being a dumbass?

I want to cramp and take a huge dump somewhere if people don't stop fcking making the same post over and over and over about the cramps.

Why did Texas have such long drives? Because our defense did not stop them. Yours is circular reasoning. Our defense was tired because they were on the field too long, and they were on the field too long because they were tired. OK

I know our defense couldn’t get off the field....they wouldn’t give up a quick score like Texas defense would do every time in under 2 minutes and when our guys stepped on the field they fought every play to keep Texas out of the end-zone. Guess your point is they should have just given up a TD every 5 plays so they wouldn’t get tired? Okay got ya, your argument makes sense now.
Your clueless as to the actual reason for the OP.....our guys cramped and there’s didn’t because they were on the field twice as long for the reasons I already stated, and in those conditions it doesn’t matter how much you hydrate it will eventually catch up with you.....now you go be circular and frick off. OK

I believe TX had slightly over 90 plays. You need to add the kicks. One FG and 3 punts.
Interesting report.
