I’m not surprised this is from Livingston parish. As a father of a biracial son I hope my son never has to be called that word.
“N***er or negro.”
“She does not need to be called any kind of n-word, not negro, not n***er, why, because she’s human.”
Upset by the use of a racial slur, Leslie Bartholomew said, what happened on her child’s school bus is out of order.
“for them words to even be used is not okay”
Bartholomew said, her daughter Lyric was arguing on the bus with a boy who first called her child the racial slur. She said, after the incident, the driver repeated it.
Lyric said, “She called me to the front of the bus when she was bringing us home and she asked me what n-word did I want him to say.”
Video from the bus shows the 7th grader getting upset by that question. Cell phone video recorded outside the bus then shows the driver apologizing.
“My child should not have to deal with no kind of racism coming from a bus driver. What you said was very racist, what you said was very racist. “
“I apologize.”
In a statement, Livingston Parish Public Schools Superintendent Alan Murphy said, “LPPS is in the process of investigating this incident and will comply as directed by our attorney.”
“You clearly said, I didn’t mean it that way so you clearly know what you said.”
Eugene Weatherspoon with the NAACP said, LPPS needs to take immediate action.
“Take her off the bus until the investigation is complete. I think that will be the only way to show this child the proper respect she deserves” said Weatherspoon.
“It’s been so heavy on my heart and my mind because I feel like my children should not have to go through this, they should never have to deal with it from an adult in the school system, never” said Bartholomew

I'll be honest as teacher in Love heard two students call each other the N-word before.i reported it to the office and nothing was done because that was ok.

Hate to break your bleeding heart, but your son will be called that by any black he interacts with over the course of his life.

Blacks refer to other blacks as the n word. Not just in private company, either.
Not sure what you’re confused about.
Unless you’re implying his half black kid won’t identify as black, which is just

Some do.
Some don't.

Most do.
Very few don’t.
There’s no denying that any person with some mixture of black will identify as black.

I understand there will be a day he will be called that and it’s not a perfect world out there. I have been called Mexican and wetback (which I’m neither of those) as a kid and I know it is not the same thing but I never let that bother me and hopefully if my son is ever called the n word I hope that doesn’t ruin his day. I would tell my son if someone acts a certain way with you then don’t associate with that person. I also understand other black kids will call him the n word but it’s just not the same when it’s not a non black person calling him that if that makes any sense. I would prefer if my son doesn’t use the word or calling other people that word either.

Antonio Brown called his boss a cracker, and it was accepted.
One would think that all racial slurs are kosher now.
I dont think this is true though. Minorities are more vulnerable than the rest of us, so we should support them.

This post doesn’t give me a lot of confidence that you’re going to be a capable father. Just saying.

Beg your pardon?

You probably shouldn’t have had a kid if you’re going to be such a pussy about life.
Worry about teaching you’re kid the right way to go about life because you can’t control what other people do.
