85 N/S between Gastonia and Charlotte is miserable also.

Another nightmare tends to be North Charlotte near UNCC.

At this moment, Asheville > Charlotte

Notice my username, I was living in Charlotte when I created it(lame I know), but not sure how to edit that.

Was in charlotte this weekend and was very impressed. Super nice, clean city with cool neighborhoods close to the center.

Been here since 2001. It has changed quite a bit and provides many options for employment, neighborhoods, schools, and entertainment.

Traffic is not getting any better, so move as close to where you will work as you can afford to avoid the highways and growing commutes.

If you are retired or have purple hair, 6 tattoos, and want to work in the hospitality industry

Don’t get me wrong, I love Asheville, but it’s not going to provide the career opportunities that most people need/want.

And btw traffic through Asheville on I26 is pretty bad

Yeah, comparing Charlotte to Asheville is not apples to apples at all.

Nine of them and I do work in the hospitality industry, so.....

Not to mention, I’ve lived in both of those cities for 12 years a piece, so my opinion might hold some weight.

I loved Charlotte, but people seem more pretentious there. Asheville offers more outdoorsy shite to do, scenic mountain views, and great local breweries.

Doesn’t affect me unless I need to go to the airport or when the Mountain State Fair is in town.

And traffic on 77 and 85 doesn’t affect me unless I’m headed out of town. And traffic the UNCC area never affects me.

But anyway, they just aren’t comparable cities.

Where did you work in CLT? When did you move here?

There IS a 'keeping up with' here that is unattractive but that is city life. I imagine the Biltmore Forest crowd gets a taste of it.

I worked at a country club in South Charlotte while I was living in Matthews. Lived there from 2000-2012.

Lived in Asheville 95-2000 and then again 2012-present.

Biltmore Forest is just a big arse neighborhood, pretty easy to avoid though.

Great micro brewery. Asheville area now has 55 breweries.

Agreed. That’s my favorite Asheville brewer.

Though it makes more sense to put it in Raleigh. Raleigh seems less saturated with breweries than Charlotte is and Raleigh is further from Asheville.

Living here a little more than 7 years...no regrets.

The only thing you'll miss is the food. Literally every other box will be checked...every single one.

Your kids will get a much better education here...for free.
