Chris Davis set the all time record low for batting average by a position player last year at .168. The previous record was Dan Uggla in 2013 at .179. These are records that go all the way back to at least 1901. (IDK if they count records from 1876-1900.)
So the Dodger’s pitchers are hitting on par with some all time bad position players. And they’re the best hitting pitchers in the NL. So what?

I like it the way it is, now that there's always an interleague match up pretty much any indication that they were once two separate, competing leagues is gone other than the DH.
That said, this is a moot conversation as the NL will very very likely adopt the DH after the current CBA expires after 2021

Why are you comparing the 2019 AL to 2018 NL?

These guys were brought to the majors to pitch, not to hit.
Then why not DH for several players? SS is gold glove caliber but can't hit? Why not DH for him, as well?
ETA: Tyler Flowers hits worse than most pitchers, but can FRAME!! So we should be allowed 2 DHs.

YES YES YES...Should have happened years ago!!! Give the fans more choice. I think it 100% has an influence on attendance. As an Indians fan, i am not spending money to see the Indians play Minnesota, Detroit, ChiSox and KC 15 times each a year! With every team moving to the DH, make every team play every team in MLB. I want to see the Indians get to play the Dodgers, Cubs, Cardinals, Giants, Braves etc etc. This is about giving fans more choice. YES to the DH!!!!

The Indians should think about moving to Nashville.

The AL was batting 5-10 points better than the NL until recently. LINK
The difference has decreased in recent years, presumably because starting pitchers are being taken out of games earlier.
The last time the NL had the higher average was 1972- the year before the AL adopted the DH.

10 points amounts to fewer than one extra hit in a 10-game period.
I think it was unnecessary to begin with.

Should the National League adopt the designated hitter?
They are going to soon enough whether they like it or not.
I think the rules should be altered to allow the DH to be for any position instead of only the pitcher.

Should the American League adopt the classic rules of baseball?

I’ve never seen any stats on this, but I’m sure that National League pitchers are taken out of games earlier on average. Just because their team brings in a pinch hitter for them.
That arguably in the biggest effect of not having a DH.

I get tired of pitching changes and wish that teams kept starters in for longer.
