This is based off real events. For Privacy reasons, the Hunter's real identity has been redacted to avoid further shame and humiliation....and possible tickets from the Oklahoma Game Wardens.

Thoughts?

My dad is ‘joe’, but with a rifle... he’s killed probably 100+ deer in his life, but has missed three times that much (I’m exaggerating a little, but still)

99% of the time it's the Indian, not the arrow

I see/hear it all the time when guys "lose" deer. "Man, I hit him perfect!"

Yet, there is no arrow, no blood, and no deer. Weird.

So if I'm hunting with a strong crosswind blowing from my right to left, I should aim left of where I want my arrow to hit? Mindblown because I would've done the exact opposite and adjusted my aim slightly to the right thinking the wind would carry it a few inches in the direction the crosswind was blowing.

What would the possible violation have been...bucks only season?

Could have “jumped the string”.I’ve seen videos, unbelievable how fast a deer can react, especially when they are on edge.
One guy told me he shot at doe standing broadside, she spun 180 degrees and he drilled her behind the right shoulder,he was aiming behind left shoulder.

I can tell you this isn't the matrix and there's nothing that the wind pulls toward its directions. SO that's definitely BS. The wind blows everything the same way its blowing.

But to be fair, deer move and do crazy things. Just because a hit was made 15 inches off target doesn't mean your shot was 15 inches off target when you released the arrow.

15 inches honestly is not impossible for a deer to move on a 35 yard shot. The deer could have very easily just flinched and dropped and that answers your question.

That's why he uses a crossbow

That gif is from a page depicting flight of a rocket with thrust.

Should have the same effect on an arrow with fletching.

No, not at all. The continued thrust changes everything. An arrow is constantly slowing down and has no force to propel it in the direction it's pointing.

Newtonian mechanics can't explain everything about a crossbow bolt in flight. Without knowing how much meth Joe smoked before taking the shot it's impossible for physics to provide a definite answer.

Joe theory is correct and taught in college but I cannot think of the name of it. Basic principle is the slight wind has a more dramatic affect on the lighter end of the arrow thus actually causing it to pull in the direction of the wind itself.

It's not. It's directed at the young buck (pun intended) in my office that explained this scenario then another co-worker put the problem to paper. "Joe"s physics was off.

No. Watch this video and pay attention to the difference between a thrusting and coasting rocket.
