Yeah and???? This doesn't mean that an 18 yr old shouldn't be able to buy a gun. When people stop making guns taboo a lot of this shite will stop.

Training with a gun is not the same thing as purchasing a gun. I work with my 9 year old at target practice, but I don't want him buying guns on his own. Setting an age restriction on gun purchases does not have to mean that a parent can't give a gun to their child.

That's not a "they say" item...it's a scientific fact...and it relates to the most critical part of the brain for decision making the prefrontal cortex.

and that is not remotely what I said, either.

I was simply responding to the ridiculous assertion that age limits are intended solely to prevent young people from developing a “love” for firearms.

Then what's the logic in allowing someone under 25 vote to decide the direction of the country's affairs?

Obviously, neither of you read my post. I addressed both - the voting age would be raised along with it as well as exceptions for military and law enforcement.

The kid needs to purchase the gun for this to happen?

The kid needs to own the gun, yes. Like anything else in life, with ownership comes responsibility and respect. Something this country is in dire need of.

Yes, doctors do tend to publish a lot of data.

Yep, and I'm sure if someone under 25 was so determined they could always go buy one on the black market or steal one from their parents ie Sandy Hook.

This country has a cultural rot problem, not a gun problem. The guns have always been here. Maybe I'm just a pessimist but I don't see a world where we get to keep our guns if we don't adopt a "bend but don't break" attitude. Specifically, we need to win back suburbia.

The Pittman Robertson act can no longer support our parks due to the decreased number of hunters and the rising prices of hunting licences exacerbating that problem. Rural America is dying and the political power of the suburban and urban voting blocks only continue to grow stronger. Do any of you honestly think that if a state like Texas goes blue they won't take it as a "electoral mandate" to just ban guns outright? If raising the age to buy some firearms to 25 gets the voting age raised along with it, I'd call that a win.

While things have changed DRASTICALLY since I bought my first gun, I disagree with age restrictions.

My first was a bolt action 12 gauge shotgun that I bought from Sears and Roebuck in 1949, just before the start of hunting season for just over $20. I had just had my 11th birthday.

In 1949 rural North Alabama, we depended to a large extent on hunting, fishing, and raising a few chickens for fresh meat.

I don't think so. I have passed the love of shooting and hunting to my children and all of them were shooting before they were in double digits. An 870 shotgun is the standard 12th birthday gift for my sons.

If you let age restrictions get in the way of passing on a tradition its on you.

I agree that this is ridiculous

The Democrats real motive is to get rid of the 2nd Amendment. But like all of their other policies, they know they have to lie about it in order to hope to get something passed.

You can’t pass on the love of the sport to your son unless he owns and posses the rifle?

Well hunters sure have been a total failure in that area. With that said you guys really should learn what possession laws entail. On one hand you want to ban anyone under 25 buying a gun then allow your kid to possess a firearm. It doesn't work that way.

Stupid post is stupid.

1. Restricting the use of a motor vehicle to those 16 years of age and older somehow hasn't discouraged young people from buying a vehicle as quickly as they are able to.

2. Restricting gun ownership to people 16 or 18 years of age in no way prohibits those gun owners from taking their sons and daughters out to hunt or to the range and let them use his guns and pass along that love of the sport.
