Looking for a Inshore Charter recommendation for someone that is good with kids (Updated)

Wife and I want to take my 8-year old out to put him on some reds/specks sometime this fall. I’ve been with a bunch of awesome Captains all over LA, but was wondering if someone can recommend a charter captain that is good with kids, and has the patience.
Not looking for a meat haul, but more for a good experience for my son so I can get him into fishing. Anywhere south of Houma would be preferable. Thanks guys

Look at the thread above. Couple of recs on captains there.
I’d hope they’d all be good with kids. WTF kinda a-hole wouldn’t be?

I can guarantee you that some Captains aren’t as good, or patient, with kids as others. I’ve been on some charters where the Captain seemed annoyed with 4 experienced fisherman.

I highly recommend Capt Travis Lovell. I took my boys(15/9) on a trip with him last month. He was awesome with the kids and made sure they had fun catching fish. We caught limits of trout and several reds.
I’ll be bringing them back along with my 9 yr old daughter this fall. He is in Dularge.

I found some old threads with him as a recommendation. Does he launch out of Dularge?

Captain Travis Miller with Millertime charters in Dularge. Also try to stay at the Reel Inn Lodge. Very nice.

He is located near the end of Bayou Dularge Rd. He keeps his boat in a slip there. Very enjoyable trip.

How is Dularge fishing during the fall months? Never really fished too much in that area.

Travis Lovell with Reelin Good Charters. Just took my son last week, not a fishing kid, but Travis took his time and made sure the kid was taken care of without missing a beat with everyone else. Matter of fact, my son caught most of the trout that day.

Agreed with T Lovell and what is mentioned above. He has 2 younger daughters and really enjoys teaching kids to fish. He is not going to be the guide who stays on the front deck slinging bait while your kids are in the back trying to figure out the knot in their line

Had great experiences with Josh Ellender and Austin Lacour. Was recommended to me and I would recommend them. We fished Cocodrie in the dead time and plenty of action.

In Hackberry look up Redtail charters. Josh is top notch with the kids and will put you on the fish

Decided to take a trip out with Travis Lovell (Reelin Good Charters) out of Dularge this past weekend and it was nothing short of phenomenal! Wife and kid had a blast and Travis was awesome to fish with. I highly recommend using him as a charter guide for anyone looking to get on some inshore saltwater action.

I’m glad you got to fish with him and had a great trip. Our trip was awesome as well and I’m planning one on the fall with all 3 kids as soon as high school football is done. My boys and I had an absolute blast.

No doubt man. All those guys down there seem to be pretty cool, and have some bad arse boats. Travis’ 25ft Ranger was a think of beauty and rode like a champ in 20+mph winds.
Will definitely book another trip in the Spring.
