Ummm... There were many races that fought and died for the US and our allies in WWII.

White-dominated because blacks were still looked down upon in the ranks. You had Indian codemakers, latino, polynisian, and asian spies, black pilots, and the list goes on.

I'm not on some diveristy tirade here, but I'd clarify your initial statement.

So step children shouldn't change their ways to assimilate without reservations to their new parent? Yeah, that will go over real well.

Did you try to find any studies

My personal experience of 53 years is my study. Lived in Houston 29 years, Raleigh area 25 years

To borrow an old friend's quite "I am the search"

For real, in Cary NC, Morrisville south west of Raleigh, there is a huge number of people from India here.

They dress like they are in india...

To your point it's the older generation of India... younger professional type not as much.

I get calls all the time from people from India wanting to do an addition on the back of their house... So the parents can move in.

I have nothing against these people other than they simply don't want to pay for anything...

I can now see myself moving in 10 years for sure....

No one can really define American culture when this topic comes up

What exactly do you want them to do? Stop eating Mexican food or something? Like it or not Latino culture is part of American culture.

Every photo that I looked at from memorial day recording , civil war, World War 1 and 2, 95% of the people in the photos and video were young white people , that's just a fact...

70 years later our country looks a lot different which is fine it's a reality I'm just discussing what's happening and I wonder what's going to happen in the future...

Hispanics outnumber blacks in our country...

We have a huge number of people from Asia and of course we have a lot of people from India... We have a lot of people from all over the world...

I'm just trying to tap into a conversation about multiculturalism and its impact on our identity as country as we move forward into the future

Also ignores the fact that there are plenty of non white people currently serving in the military

Sounds like this little bitch just doesn't like any change

This is factually incorrect.

"among the 16 million U.S. soldiers who fought in World War II, there were about one million African-American soldiers." ( reference). And that was despite all the Jim Crow era segregated American Military.

Multiculturalism in and of itself is neither good nor bad

We should try to be selective about immigrants but beyond that I don't care about "culture" unless we're talking about Islam.

New immigrants are assimilating as quickly as ever before if not faster (reference).

I am one of those people. I have native fluency in English, my native tongue, and a third language. What is your problem with people knowing more languages and speaking them? It is a great thing.

I want immigrants to bring parts of their culture.

I don't want them to never feel pressure to assimilate to those already here. Enclaves are the problem.

Indeed.

Of course, it's often referred to as the 'Sub-Continent' for a reason - it's usually looked at (culturally, geographically, and otherwise) as rather separate and apart from the rest of Asia.

If those people didn't bring the cultures from their homeland it would be correct though

What exactly is Apex Tiger's complaint? He seems to have a problem with people bringing their culture here.

I think he has more of a problem not with them bringing their culture here, but rather with them NOT integrating their culture with ours. Doing nothing to integrate themselves into our culture, but rather trying to make their culture ours. If that makes sense. It did in my head.

bullshite. My wife and her parents came over as refugees with nothing but their brains and now they all speak English fluently. They are the most proud Americans I have ever seen. Huge US flag flying at their house and proud trump supporters. Each one of them has a masters degree or higher and are very high wage earners. Literally living the American dream. All while many natives who were given life on a silver platter compared to them live a life methed out

This is the new reality. Our system rewards them for doing this.

The USA is the only country in history AFAIK that has such a high level of self-hate. Why should immigrants want to become something so loathed? They retain more political power and get more benefits by remaining in minority status.

This has always been true. Your forefather did the same thing.

Not all....plus its hard to serve you country when you are banned from serving. The U.S. military was segregated during the war with blacks serving as behind the line labor.

I think he has a valid concern but I also think it's a concern that has been expressed by every generation. Go to Texas and you'll see plenty of second and third generation Mexican families living in normal suburbs and working normal jobs and eating plenty of Papa Johns and speaking English.

I'm not saying it's a non-issue, but I do question the idea that at a broad level "Immigrants aren't assimilating." A lot of them are. Now, whether they're coming over in quantities too large to make assimilation natural is a different question.

I also think origins matter. I honestly don't see second and third generation Mexicans/Guatamalans/etc. who aren't assimilating to some extent. We'll need more time to evaluate that, but it's not a major concern of mine.

I do worry about Muslim/Somali populations in Minnesota and Michigan. I think most of them assimilate in many ways (they drive Uber, they buy American shite, they learn english, etc.) but obviously there is a larger cultural clash when it comes to Islam and the West.

I don't have that concern about Latino immigrants, although some will say they don't emphasize education enough, etc. Probably some truth to that, but I don't think it's deeply engrained. Moreover, we have plenty of communities in America already that don't prioritize work ethic or education.
